Most sects ignore the really ugly parts unless they suit the sects purpose.

 

To the unbeliever the Bible is "encrypted" and appears to be riddles and such. One has to "know" God first before they can "know" what the Bible means. It is life's user guide for the believer.

It is just plain funny how a non-believer will use the Bible/scripture to make a point against it.

 

The mind can play funny games and psychology is an interesting field. Once a person forms a well developed mental frame by which they interpret world's information, it is difficult to change their opinions without altering that frame.

 

The Bible is an anthology of diverse writings, by writers with different beliefs and different viewpoints. As a result, it is full of passages that contradict each other. This makes it easy to find a passage to support whatever view you like.

In other words, if you are deluded into thinking that you know the "Truth" and all other religions are wrong, it's easy to gloss any given passage into a meaning that suits you.

Bible-believing Christians will argue vehemently about what the Bible really says, and sometimes they'll even come to blows over it. And note, please, that in these arguments, both sides are absolutely convinced that they KNOW god.

An amusing example: Several sects share the belief that at the end of times the wicked will be killed and there will be a thousand-year interlude, after which the wicked will be resurrected and judged a second time. But some of these sects believe that at this time the wicked will have a chance to repent and be saved, while other sects go ballistic in their excoriations of this view, insisting rather that at the second judgement all the wicked will be killed again.

Such an arcane point of dogma, and yet both sides, equally Bible-believing, equally convinced that they know god, are equally certain that their belief is the correct one and the other side is deluded or worse.

The only thing that we can really know for sure about god is that IF there is a god, we cannot possibly know anything about him, because any book we read, any revelation we may have, any personal communication or answered prayer, could equally well have come from a supernatural deceiver. That is, there is no possible way for a human to know whether the being he is communicating with is a god or a demon or a space alien with sufficient technology or spiritual development to make himself appear to be god.

 

It's even funnier how a believer will use circular logic by saying if it's in the Bible it's true.

Human beings are tribal/pack beings. They are hard wired to believe in a leader and organized religion plays that to a T with their mythical leader that each religious sect claims gave them an exclusive franchise.

 

Or he/she is receiving false sensations from the right temporal lobe. lol

Good question... guess we will just have to wait and see.

 

This is what I have been busting my hump on for the last couple of weeks (after work, w.e.). Been furring out the concrete stub walls and insulating. Also adding foam board to the rim joist.

What a chore. Any advice?
