Tire Rack is suggesting that I could put 15 inch wheels on my 2008 Touring. Given that stock is larger than that I don't want to pay for all the shipping to get a surprise!

I'd love to hear from someone else with a 2008 or at least Gen2 Touring that can confirm 15" fits.

    I'm looking at:
15x6.5 MSW Type 14 Silver Painted
    for 2008 Toyota Prius Touring
    In Stock 012345678 $69.00 $276.00

    185/65R15 Bridgestone Blizzak WS70 Blackwall
    for 2008 Toyota Prius Touring
    In Stock 012345678 $82.00 $328.00
    Mounting hardware included
    Subtotal: $604.00
    + shipping/tax/duty/fees to Canada.
    Total:$999.72

    Thanks,
    DDR

Our engineer measured the vehicle and we have verified that the wheels will clear the brake calipers and suspension components.
We understand that, eventhough we cover the costs of returning and/or replacing application errors on our part, it is an inconvenience for customers.
We take great effort to ensure the applications we list fit without interference and that no modification is required.

2G Prius original equipment tire sizes are:

    185-65R15 used for non-Touring
    195-55R16 used for Touring

Non-Touring and Touring Prius use the same brake system. Both tire sizes will fit all 2G assuming that the correct wheels are used. Since the OP is getting winter tires, it makes sense to use the smaller size, 185-65R15 for improved snow traction as well as for an improved selection of tires and lower prices.

That's a good price on the new rims. You should have no problems fitting them on your car.

I debated that route with Pearl, and decided to get real all-season tires (Nokian WR) so I don't need to change them twice a year. They work very well, and cost $500 for all four. That's Canadian, mounted, installed, lifetime repair, rotation, etc. Treadwear warranty of 100,000 km.
Service at any Kal Tire store without argument.

It'll look funky though cause you'll have so little rim compared to the sidewall ratio. Why are you "down"-sizing again?
