    Hi all,
I'm just saying hello. I just bought a 2008 touring with leather, nav. Just 42k miles. I'll have it in a few days. Looking forward to it. :D

Well, Its been 5 months and boy do I feel like a sucker. After my first drive in the snow yesterday I have been thinking about changing to either snow tires or new all season tires with good snow characteristics. While checking the tire size I realized that I had 15" wheels instead of the 16" I expected on the Touring model. As it turns out, I bought a non-touring model. I still like the car, except I'm frustrated. I can't find any indication that I was misled by the dealer. Maybe I was confused? Oh well, I still like my car. I guess I just saved some $$ by only having to buy 15" tires!

In Canada we don't have the same packages etc that they have in the US. It has gone back and forth on what we get every year. I think one year all here were touring (ish) but not the year I bought. I think we were getting some sort of production line left overs or something.
Anyway, when I ordered mine I ordered everything except navigation. So I got the vsc, bluetooth, jbl etc... no leather in Canada, or hid. Between when I ordered it and when it came in, they made up another level which was everything except nav and 16 in wheels. Not being a real wheel guy I didn't notice That I got the 15 inch either... I was just happy that they kept to the original price deal (the contract said they could change the price if it had gone up by returning my small deposit, and it had gone up a fair bit on the web site).

Anyway, by the time I noticed I had found out that I actually preferred it this way anyway

I like the car. It has everything I wanted; Nav, Bluetooth, Leather, VSC, Satellite. It was my fault, I should have done my homework up front. My only problem is an intermittent fan on my heater/AC. I will replace it soon.

:welcome: I am getting winter tires put on my 2008 Touring this weekend. I normally run 16" wheels, but am putting 15" winter tires on. Glad you like your car. I love mine!

I hope you were not misled... I reported on this forum awhile back that I went to two dealers in the Indianapolis area looking for a used Prius and they had labeled every one on their lot as a "Touring" model. On the window they had listings for pricing info from kbb.com using the touring model pricing to show a higher price for the vehicles.

When I challenged them on it they said, oh that was just a mistake and they would correct it. Days later it was still not corrected so I reported them (with pictures) to the Indiana State Attorney General's office File A Complaint - IndianaConsumer.com - Office of the Indiana Attorney General - Greg Zoeller

I don't know if something like that happened to you, but I certainly have seen dealers who are willing to mislead consumers.

The sales person probably knows less about the Prius ,than you did? How did it handle in the nasty stuff? H

Where can one read the differences in a touring vs. standard model Prius?

Same thing happened to me, they had the car listed on their website as the Touring model. When I asked the salesman about it he basically just agreed with what I said I saw on the website "yeah, Touring". It had after market wheels and fogs on it already from the previous owner. Didn't hit me till I got home and was reading something here on PC that I had just a plain ol' package 2. Still a great deal, but irritating. All they had to offer in answer was a few free oil changes. No thanks, I do my own.
