Is it possible to find actual stores with the Prius nav system? Today I was trying to find the nearest Autozone and it didn't seem to know what to do with that command. Instead it took us to the nearest "Auto Accessories" store.

I want to be able to find specific stores (like Subway or Starbucks) on the nav map, is this possible and how?

    Thanks

It sounds like you're asking about voice commands. There are only a few voice commands the system recognizes, mostly general category. So you can't find a specific store using voice commands.

You CAN, however, find specific stores very easily using the "POI (points of interest) by Name" function. Just punch in the name of the store and it'll show you the nearest locations. Most businesses in the yellow pages (or Yelp) should be in the system. It's pretty amazing. Just be sure to remember to enter it before you start driving since you can't mess with the nav while moving. I've found it almost impossible to input while at a stoplight.

True I found the closest Advance Auto just last weekend by typing in the name. I don't use the voice commands because I get so frustrated with the layers you have to go through...

I hate to keep ringing the bell on this but Ford Sync is so good that I am sure that it is what gets people to lean to Ford in many competitive deals. Toyota has to implement a system like this before Ford comes out with a Prius like Hybrid. If you ever get a chance to test drive a Ford with Sync do it. Hook up your usb drive or WD drive or iPod or Creative Zen and say "play track (your song here)" It is because of living with Ford sync for a year that I am so dismayed by Toyota voice commands. Toyota guys...you gotta do better or you're going to start losing business to Ford Sync if you haven't already.
