So I read that there is a bypass for the Nav so that you can change the nav without having to pull over and stop.

Do I need it if I have the voice controlled Navigation? I figure the voice control should over-ride the nav system.

Anyone with voice control nav that can confirm?

Voice overrides the Nav lockout. It also overrides the 'phone lockout.

It's just much slower using Voice prompts.

In my personal day to day driving, the NAV lockout doesn't affect me since I don't need directions or traffic info on my commute nor am I a cellphone "power user". What I do use a lot is the USB port for MP3 playback and the lockout on it SUX!

    FYI

I am not sure what you are referring to that is locked out on the USB? I can change songs and folders on the touchscreen, the steering wheel controls and the SEEK and TRACK buttons.

Sorry for the confusion, I didn't mean the USB is completely inoperable. It has a speed lockout on the touch screen controls. Further aggravating the issue is the head unit being incredibly slooooooooooow. :(

CD's and iPhone are unaffected by the speed lockout? The CD screen contains just as much "distracting" info as a USB screen so that doesn't make sense to me.

Edit: I don't use CD much and just checked and found some of the CD functions are speed locked too.

You are right about the USB screen being slow to change and update when trying to select folders or files within folders.

The USB lockout is that when you select the file or folder, the next page, previous page and the long file name buttons are grayed out.

Yes, I just tried this coming home tonight. Makes you wonder why they lock out those buttons and none of the rest. Those buttons are no more distracting than the other buttons to me.

To get to the next screen on the song selection page while on lockout, play the song at the very bottom then goto the next track. The song selection page will goto the next page.
