It was not verbal or atleast I assume so. It is the pricing via truecars.com where the dealer quotes and agrees to the price. I have contacted truecars for clarification and I am waiting for their response.
It looks like your deal was great for III.
    Thanks

    Prius II
Color: Dark gray, dark gray interior
Price Paid $21,800 out the door
Options: Floor/trunk mats, wheel locks, rear bumper guard, none of it worth anything compared to what the MSRP is.
    Delivery date: 11/26/2010
    Where: Grappone Toyota, Bow/Concord NH
Took the 0% apr instead of the rebate.

They gave me a KBB trade in value on 11 y.o Subaru, which was better than anyone else.

Also got the extended warranty and prepaid service (not included in the above price) which I am in the process of cancelling.

Grappone was great. They matched the best advertised price and gave me fair value on the trade. I was in and out the dealership in about 90 minutes with the new car. Only regret (my fault) was letting the finance guy talk me into the warranty and service, which I am in the process of undoing. This doesn't seem to be a hassle with Toyota Finance.

Does anyone know how much the cash back amount is in SoCal right now?

I just emailed a dealership in VA on a IV.

I requested a silver/misty IV with no other options.

Talk about ridiculous. Here's his quote:

MSRP is $30030 and the sales price is $28500 plus taxes tags and fees, now there is a $1500 rebate or 0% for 60 months.

{the car is already a year old, depreciation-wise, now that 2011 is almost here, and they're still trying to throw full price out there? Pffffftttt}.

I believe there are a couple of factors at play here... 1st, Toyota seems to recovering from the black-eye they got this past summer by all the negative press over runaway vehicles, especially as all accounts to date appear to be some form of driver error, fraud, or circumstance deemed not a mechanical defect of the vehicle. 2nd, gas prices are on the rise and prediction are they will continue to rise until they stabilize somewhere over $3.00 per gallon (southeast prices). 3rd, there are no real significant changes from the 2010 to the 2011 model year, so I don't think the dealerships are really looking at the 2010s as being a year old (huge misconception on their part), and sales have been steadily increasing, so they can demand and get a higher price.

I think we, by virtue of pure dumb luck, managed to get an awesome deal just because of timing. Gas prices were down, and Toyota was really hurting for sales due to the bad press that was all over TV! Sure, I got a lot of crap and grief from co-workers who couldn't understand how I could go purchase a vehicle that was akin to Steven King's Christine, and was sure to kill me and my family by the end of the year. But as dumb luck would have it, I have a perfectly good vehicle that gets awesome gas mileage, whose resale value seems to be climbing by the month! Given the asking prices I've seen here, I really believe I could sell my Prius today for what I paid for it or more! Current KBB Private sale price $22,535, my purchase price $22,088!

They sure don't seem to be worried about moving the 2010s out, getting ready for the 2011s, from the looks of it right now.

"Wot, me worry?" Cars.com shows they're down to the bitter end on the 2010s.

    There's only 17,000 left! :D

Thanks for the info. But if I may, a few more questions:
    – How did you make your first contact? Truecar? eMail?
    – Any in-person bargaining, or did you settle the final price by "remote control?"
    – How unreasonable are their "documentation fees, etc.?"

I'm hoping to drive down from Portland, ME to somewhere in NH, do a no-trade, cash-and-carry deal on a Blizzard Pearl II, bring it back to Maine, pay our 5% sales/use tax and our $24/$1000 excise tax... and begin driving past a few gas stations. :D

Fremont Toyota (SF Bay Area) is running a newspaper ad for the base Prius II at 19,888. The ad has been running for the past several days. I think that's the lowest I've seen in print.

I'm planning on buying before the end of the year.

@priusbaker - agree with @randyfuj, 21,300 seems a fair price. Someone else in this forum, @yong, got a III blizzard pearl for 20,980 a few days ago in the SF bay area.

21,300 for a III seems like a very good price. I am seeing around 21,000 for a base II in Chicagoland

That is the lowest price I have seen here in Phoenix, too. The 2010 inventory is dropping pretty quick around here, even around the holidays. I don't think prices will get any better than that. $19,888 for a II with a MSRP of $23,760.00 is the best I have seen around here.

Are you taking the rebate or the interest. If you are taking the interest I think that is a pretty good price. If you are taking the rebate, then not a good price.
