All the hate and ignorance makes me love my Prius even more.

BTW, it looks like your thread is poised for another 15+ page run, Coach. ;)

Ya know, with gas prices way north of 3 bucks in my neck of the woods I'm so happy I have my 04 Prius. This vehicle is the most reliable I've ever owned and I'm really proud of it. No regrets whatsoever. For those folks who have made inappropriate comments, just ignore them. Believe me, when you ignore them and change the subject, it's just a matter of time where you will never, ever hear a negative comment.

    Look at it this way:

    1. Their remarks say MUCH more about THEM than they could every suggest about YOU.

    2. If your friends get this upset over a stupid thing like a car, then...they aren't really friends.

Get your Prius - laugh all the way to the bank.

His isn't the only one, numerous self-identified gays are here. And I'd be very surprised if there aren't plenty more who see no reason to declare anything in a car forum.

I'm not one, but now live in an area where the label can be ignored without consequence, no need to even bother refuting it. That wasn't true in the time and place where I grew up, where the label could bring a serious threat to personal safety. A few of those folks still live there. They probably have a considerable overlap with the folks I watched out for pre-Prius, due to having a relative there with a job that naturally creates some enemies. The later are a reason for having a carry permit.

He probably wouldn't even need a career change, there should be plenty of places where a Prius does not conflict with Northern Football.

    ;)
    Aha!!! Perhaps that's it!!!
Agree.. It's gonna take a real strong MAN to stand up to all of them, and show them what they think, or say.. will have NO hold over me!!! If I want the car.. it SHALL BE MINE!!!

I would LOVE to play hockey... now there is a REAL "MAN's" Sport!!!
Thank you.. great questions... I can't get straight answers from any of them... 'cept.. "It just is" or "just look at it".. What???

Thanks again for all the comments.. Obviously once again the nature of this thread has struck a nerve with all of you.. as it has with me..

I just wish I know what the real source of all this is...

I refuse to care what people think about my choice of cars. Most people ridicule me because I have owned as many cars as I have been driving..... Since 1986.

Go ahead and order it. Put this on the rear bumper.
Nice Truck. Sorry Bumper Sticker from Zazzle.com
Don't let other people tell you who you are, you'll resent it in the long run.
    Merry Christmas

I just wrote a long post about this in another thread.
No negative comments here in the redneck region---well except for some grumbling from the union (it's a company car.)

    None.

    LOL...
    Gotta love bumper stickers!!!
However (comma) if you poke fun at pickup drivers I think you give up some of your license to fuss about what people say about your Prius. Just sayin.... :D

I try not to give other people the power to influence my actions.

    Merry Christmas everybody!

I wouldn't get too upset - your friends and family are trying push your "buttons" because they either feel threatened by your choice of car or actually don't "get it". I guess they go around making decisions of what they want and how they do things in their lives because of what other people think. What a way to live! A work associate stated I should put a noise maker on my wheels, just like we used to do on our bicycles when we were kids. I calmly asked him; "Are you making fun of my car?" He quickly backstepped and tried to change the subject. Express confidence in what you want without rubbing it in their face, and they too will soon "get it". Once I got mine, I kept asking myself why I didn't do this earlier.

I'm waiting for the day when gas prices are high enough when friends start asking me to drive because I get better mpg's. I'll then say - "why should I put all the miles and wear and tear on my car - it's your turn to drive!"

I have to say it again: Toyota should advertise Prius as a PERFORMANCE CAR, because it is. Great performance in gas mileage and technological amenities for a surprisingly low price. PRIUS TEAM, are you reading our posts? Get a new advertising firm.

Sucess!!! Found a salesman that will let me have an "extended" test drive. He said I could take it for a day and try it out. I will take him up on his offer, and see if I can finally scratch the Prius itch... and see what happens!

    I'll keep you guys updated...
