TRUECAR.COM indicates that the price of the IV INCLUDES destination and regional ad fees (of $1,648). However, the dealer is saying those fees are NOT included in the price. So the truecar.com price of $23110 suddenly becomes $24,758.

Can someone help me out here? Is this dealer trying to do a scam???

Yes I am going to "walk on by"

HOWEVER, can someone please tell me the real deal with truecar.com? (Yes, I've tried calling truecar directly but not one person there actually picks up their phone. Tried 3 different people that the receptionist transferred me to.)

Should the dealer honor the "lowest price" as specified in truecar.com for that very dealer? I'm confused by the price listed. I don't know how truecar.com works or is supposed to work.

I thought the listed price was, in fact, THE price at that dealer, before tags, tax, license?

Been searching for a prius type III with no options here in Northern Ca, msrp appears to be $24,560 or so. Gone through a few internet department and it appears $1500 off before any rebate is the standard? The quotes I got of $3k off always include the $1500 rebate but I see some getting $2k+ before rebate ... suggestions?

This seems like a good a deal...anyone, please chime in!
    - financing through Toyota a lease (so no $1,500 back)
    - $22,500 + Tax and Lic on a prius II
    - Silver / Dark Grey Int

I made a deal! All by phone. Local dealer!

Pkg IV, no nav, no solar, Silver/misty, no financing, no trade-in

The dealer offered the car at $25,306 OTD

I offered $24,900 OTD (figuring they'd come back with $25K)

    He did.

I said "throw in the mats and the cargo net and we'll have a deal." He agreed.

So $25K out the door. I put down a deposit.

No idea what the breakdown is...was focusing on my total cost and figured they could work the numbers backwards.

I decided last week that the most I would pay for a 2010 IV would be $25K out the door and that would be the exact amount of the check I would write.

    :)

Next I am compiling my list of the things I want them to change (beeps disabled, etc, etc) and he knows that's coming.

I will get the car within the next few days -- it's not a car that's on the lot.

I think that is a tad steep. Around here a dealer's opening would be in the $22K range (without incentives). But we are only getting the $1000 rebate so maybe things are geared to end up in the same place.

Okay, assuming for the moment that all the 'fees' remain the same, here would be the breakdown for the IV.

    Invoice Price: $26,442.00

Price before rebate of $1,500: $25,150

    ----------------------------------------------
Price after rebate but before tax and fees: $23,650
    Tax (3%): $709.50
    Dealer fee: $499.00
    Tags: $141.50

    ------------------------
    $25,000 total OTD

Depends a lot on your finance rate. But it sounds like a fairly decent deal for the Socal market. I'm still guessing the 2010's are going to drop in price once 2011 arrives. Toyota doesn't want thousands of last-year cars sitting on the lot. You will probably be able to swing a pretty good deal on Friday 12/31 if you walk into a dealership with your loan pre-approved. My local dealer in Irvine has 2 looonnng rows of 2010 cars just waiting for a buyer.

Question: Does "invoice price" include tax in the number or is that the price before tax, fees, etc, etc?

Would like a read on this also.
The truecar.com price I received was 20,376 on a pk II.
This included the $1,500 incentive, since I'm financing, we removed it and now the price is $21,876. Waiting for a call back, but two other dealers said they would be loosing money and wouldn't touch it. Anyone know if the truecar.com price includes everything but tax and licensing?

It's confusing. I spoke with someone from truecar.com and he said dealers may have 'other' fees that get tacked on. So while the price on their site includes (in my case) "regional ad fees" and some other fee, which add up to $1,648, a dealer might charge other fees, which is not reflected in the truecar.com price.

I find it ironic that the 'extra fees' for that dealer just happen to come out to $1,648. Coinky-dink? Nope.

Anyway, I'm not doing business with that dealer. Their OTD price was $25,918 and the price I negotiated with another dealer is $25K OTD.

I purchased a 2010 Winter Gray / Dark Gray Prius II tonight. The only option was Carpet/Cargo Mats.

    Price was $20,440 + TTL
    I also a $500 shareathon code.
I also qualify for a $2160 tax credit from Colorado.

So my net is $18780 + TTL. I think that is pretty good.

BTW, the dealer was Go Toyota in Denver. Salesman was nice to deal with.

You are soooo lucky to have gotten a $500 shareathon code. I heard about it too late to get it.

I'm looking at picking one up tomorrow. It's a Prius iv with Leather, Nav, Floor mats and rear bumper apli. I'm getting it for Invoice - $230 but is givning me $1000 more on my trade that the other dealer who offered it to me for Invoice minus $400... i'm just getting a little cold feet...
Any thing I should think about? Should I wait for the 2011?

    evpv,
thanks for your feedback. got a rate for my finance @ 3.9% for good credit, kind of high i think considering the special rates going on. anyway, i might just wait a little longer as you had mentioned since longo toyota in el monte still have over 100 2010 prius remaining. what do others thinks?
