I now believe every dealer expects you to throw out a lower number. Offer $500 or $600 less and when they counter, ask them to throw in (list of what you want, like mats, cargo net, mud guards, etc,).

I think I responded to one of your earlier posts but fwiw, here's my info of my early December purchase:

My car is series 2010 IV Blizzard Pearl with Misty Gray leather and Solar Roof pkg./ NAV and 5 mats.

My list was $32,060 including $760 delivery.

My purchase price was $26,901.59 inclusive of Toyota cash back of $1500.

Tax (3% in VA), tags and dealer processing fee of $389 was on top of that.

My 'out-the-door' price was $28235.25. I priced the car through USAA. 0% financing would erase the $1500 credit and put my purchase price at $28,401.59 so it looks like you're in the ballpark of a nice deal if I'm reading everything correctly. It's easy to do a Truecar or some other price-check for your car and confirm.

Good luck...it's easy to obsess over $50-100 here and there...after you get the car and enjoy, all that will be history. Sales guy gotta make a living, too..and I don't see them driving around in Ferraris ;)

Wow seeing your prices I think we paid a bit high then for our Prius. We got it for 30030. before taxes and title. we added the extra bumper to bumper warranty good for 8 years or 100k miles. all worth it for my fiancee to be worry free.

Well, I updated my Car Info. I am a 2010 IV owner now. I am very happy. I took it for a test drive and was instantly hooked. Completing the financing tomorrow and hopefully drive it away same day. I'm waiting for the Road guard protector to be put on it first. With experience of my last Prius, those hoods are notorious for getting nicks. Anyway, I am excited and pleased. But gotta say, not too happy about the trade offered for the 2006 but they would not budge. But it was 5 years old with 71k. Thanks for the responses. I just love this forum.

Funny what drives a car selection. No heated seats is really a deal killer for me, sunroof almost as much. And the lumbar adjustment is great. Was really wanting to like Hondas - Insight, Fit...but no heated seats or sunroofs kept me from even going into the showroom. Don't want aftermarket heaters etc. So the IV was the car for me..and really wanted to like the V too ..but no sunroof..and sounds like the PHV will be no-sunroof as well :(

My 2006 had aftermarket heated seats. They worked well. But yes, I agree with you. I wanted the V but also wanted that Solar Sunroof. I'm a gadget nut and wanted it all. Oh well.................

Im with you on the sunroof. the size is nice and big. We were looking at the Venza with sunroof but the big one is in the back for the rear passengers. lame. We want to enjoy it. Like if im driving, my fiancee wants to just look up.

The Ford Edge has a HUMONGOUS moonroof over the driver and front passenger.

The Prius V only has a few features I would kind of want, the auto assist parking and LED headlights.

Man...maybe I should have held out for one of these! Mine was about the same, out the door. I didn't see a IV with colors and roof that I wanted at a dealer that was willing to negotiate that much! I ended up with a III, adding port leather. Wish it had the lumbar adjustment though!
