Slid into the back end of a Hyundai Santa Fe on Sunday morning. No damage to me, but the damage to my '06 was too much to be worth repairing.

Time to go shopping for a new car. Maybe I'll upgrade to a Gen III.

RIP, Black Beauty. You were the best car I've ever owned.

Are you sure it is a write off. Does not look that bad? The thermos bottle is even intact! Looks like it was in nice condition. What is the mileage total? Hal

Yep. Insurance company called me yesterday and told me it was a total loss. The damage was more extensive than what the photos show. Had around 116,000 miles on it, so the car value wasn't what it might have been.

Mine was in worse shape when I got it. It was also totalled by the insurance company. Did the airbags deploy? I spent about $6K fixing mine, but I did a lot myself. Did you get a residual value if you kept it?

Proco, sorry to see that. Was the driver's door jammed? Time for a Gen3. AAA prices for a 2010 are under invoice while the 2011's is invoice. Haven't seen any 2011s around here.

Condolences to the OP, glad that no one was hurt.

What are the exterior visual clues to differentiate between 2010 and 2011? I picked up a 2011 brochure, can't see any obvious differences.

Aww, it took the hit to protect you. I have the same year and color as yours. I have 138k miles on it. I can relate to how much you love that car.

=(. At least you weren't hurt. If you do get the Gen 3, it'll be interesting to hear another comparison between the 2 from actual owners. It's possible that the insurance company thinks that they can get more by selling the parts to repair other Priuses.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Well, mostly sad to see a damaged Prius. :)
I hope your new, black Gen3 fairs as well as to see 100,000+ miles.

OP, time to get a black Gen III V with ATP

What's new for 2011 is the availability of Bisque interior with the black color.
