Just finished installing some DRLs using LED Strip kit. Big thanks to Rodney () for the idea and helpful tips! The job took about a total of 3 three hours and about $24..

I bough the kit from iJDMToy.com. I also bought LED replacements for the parking light bulb.

    1. Per the Toyota instructions (thanks Paja), I removed the front bumper skin.
    2. Thoroughly cleaned the underside of the headlight using rubbing alcohol.
    3. The strips have 3M adhesive on them already so I removed the backing and applied the strip to the underside of the headlight. The strip is just shy (1/8") of the leading edge of the headlight.
    4. Wired up the lights. Like Rodney, I tapped into the parking lights. I was originally going to wire it so the lights were on whenever in Ready mode but went the other route. *Note be real careful not to pull hard on the wires coming from the strip, there are easy put pull out.
    5. Reassembled. Bonus, no extra parts!

See photos attached. Added a daylight photo:

Looks great though! Are they really that blue/purple? or is it the camera?

TP, yeah they do have much more a blue hue than I wanted. I ordered "Xenon White" color.

Say is it possible to upper case the letters in the title of the thread? When I tried, it forced them lowercase.

    Thanks.

p.s. there seems to be a blueish tint to the headlight lens. That is causing some of it.

Clearly you must have done something incorrect. Everyone knows a proper install always results in extra parts :D

Seriously, it looks nice. I think if they were truly the xenon white, it may blend in too well with the white car.

Must be a vbulletin thing. I can't do it either. I have to manually change DRL and DIY without touching LED. That way, I can get those two words to be in CAPS but I can't do anything about LED.

OK added a "daylight" photo. Of course for us up here that does not mean much as we (our neighborhood) doesn't see direct daylight for almost two months (behind a mountain).

How come each diode seems to be grouped in 3s?

The LEDs are grouped in threes. There is a place you can cut in-between each set to shorten if needed. The space is not nearly as noticeable when looking at them.

Those look good too but I was wanting something more subtle. Plus it will be hard to find a place for those large LEDs on the Prius. The lower grill is about it and that I think is too low.

    that's true.

anyway, thanks for the write-up and pics!

was there still a slight gap between the headlight and bumper after the install or is it pretty tight now ?

It looks very good, today I visited local shop and I saw some similar LED strips. Unfortunately EU DRL have to have a certification to be allowed for the mod.
