    They're called moderators. Not Ban-ers.
    The reason should be self-evident.

If you disagree with somebody's posts about Priuses, the war(s), the economy, the 11 year sunspot cycle---or whatever... then put your gloves on, and get into the arena of public thought.
If you do not have the stones to get into an intelligent debate, and you reeealllly can't stand to read the thoughts of a person whose beliefs are a little different than yours happen to be, then press the "alt + F4" keys on your computer, get your parents to buy you an ice-cream cone.
Altering somebody's quotes, or beseeching the mods to "ban" something is pretty low-rent---AND it's something that I would expect for the mods to "ban".

I obviously do not agree with the thoughts and ideas of everybody in this thread, or on this forum. (lol!) far from it, but one of the things that sets America apart from a lot of countries that end in "stan" (meaning: land) is the fact that everybody here has a GOD given, constitutionally protected RIGHT to be wrong---insofar as the application of this right does not infringe on another person's same rights.
    That's it.
That's the 8,000 words in the Constitution distilled down into one phrase.

If you don't like the way this forum is being run----go start one of your own.

    BT!

Here you go. Make sure your VW buddies read it too. ;) You honestly should change your vehicle from Prius to your TDi.

It may be easier for you to read Rocky Mountain Institute's analysis of the infamous Dust to Dust study. While your previous car may not have been anywhere near as bad as the H2 and H3 Hummer, the idea is the same and who knows if your emissions were better or worse. Since we are just talking total energy use it really doesn't matter.

What part of "ad hominem attack, completely unprovoked" do you suck-ups to this puke not understand?

You don't allow that kind of thing in a properly moderated forum.

His obvious politics/polemics aside, his behavior here is ban-able. Many times over. And not just this thread.

    I disagree.

Yeah, as irreverent as I tend to be, I try to avoid serious insults. Yeah, I'm in the military (currently JAFR) but I tend to believe that I'm already on the moral high-ground with respect to the worthiness of that calling, and it's even further beyond the scope of this thread than the CO2 debate.
I responded to the CO2 post----and I feel that I presented my opinion of this aspect of Priusness in a more thoughtful manner.
Whether or not you think that the carbon debate is worth fighting, it is being fought---on several fronts.
If you think that buying a Prius, and insulting those that drive trucks puts you on the moral high-ground, go for it!
If you're against "the wars", and you think that calling into question the motives, or even the character of some 2-million service members is a good thing---go for that too!

Crap only sticks to you if you allow it to.

As much as I have very deep, and somewhat informed views on US policy, human impact on our environment, Prius hatred, and a bunch of other things----I'd be both unhappy and less informed if I shut myself off from the views and opinions of those whose belief systems differ than those that I have.
They do that in other places---and not just in left or right 'leaning' forums. There are countries that I have visited that kill you dead for apostasy....

On this forum they just call you names.

I can live with that.

You do not have to agree with everyone. I can assure you that you will not. That is a simple fact most of us have come to accept. Another simple fact is that we - especially I - do not tolerate name calling. It would appear that you could use some work on both fronts.

Let's make sure this thread stays on topic and leave the other discussions for FHoP or FHoPol.

It would appear that I totally suck at moderating. Looks like I'm not getting paid this week.

And what's with the puke fetish?

    So you're the "missing moderator."

There is a difference between not "agreeing with" someone, and the kind of blatant ad hominem attacks the poster was engaged in, and which were quoted again for emphasis. Your reply and inaction speaks volumes about the direction of this forum. Peace, out.

Just got my 2010 Prius III a month ago. My 18 year old [too fast too furious] American Male hated the idea. You are getting a f_g car dad!? He yelled out. One thing though, when he saw it in the drive way he actually gawked at it. "Can I drive it!" was the first words out of his mouth when he saw it. "No." I replied. Wouldn't want your friends to see in the f_g car son...

He's not a really good moderator.
    I've logged 350-some-odd posts, mostly immoderate.....and I haven't been taken to the forum wood-shed once!!! ;)

    LOL!!
    I love it!!!

The gay-car thing must be an urban phenom. I've logged 4000 miles in 4 months in a Prius. I live in one of those notches in the bible belt. I haven't once heard of any homosexual reference to 'my' Prius other than those I read about in this forum.

This is an aspect to Prius Hate that I haven't encountered....

I'm not so sure of that. Look what you did:

    That's a totally puke-able result.

I wonder how far out "out" is?

To some degree ad hominem is unavoidable in many debates, even if very subtle. I am generally civil but resort to it at times in a passive-aggressive manner. In the grand scheme I'd say this thread has been pretty tame. This forum--this thread included--is far more civil that many other places on the net. Probably because of the old demographic of prius users :)

That's one of the things I like about you, Tony. Well that and your obscure movie references on What Drives Us. :p

4sure. I've been on BMW and Lexus forums just to learn about cars in general and people bite each other's heads off over there. It's one reason I couldn't (and preferred not to) keep up.

Ditto! I spent nearly a decade on LS1 (Camaro, Corvette, GM Truck) and Mustang forums and they are much less civil. I'd like to say that my attitude problem stems from such prior activity but instead of pointing fingers I'll just accept that I may be a jerk. :)
