I use my EV switch everytime I slow down to enter a parking lot (WalMart), work, the gym, approaching the house, etc. Since I'm slowing down anyway, I can use some of the energy to charge the battery. Besides, it's cool when one of those pickup/SUV owners comment on how quite the car is. And I love using it getting gas at WalMart because of all the pickup/SUVs.

I should probably edit that post - I let the engine start once the traffic light turns green and use the ICE to accelerate through the intersection.

You can accelerate a bit harder in EV mode than when just trying to manually stealth but if you push too hard, you get the 'beep beep beep' alert and the ICE kicks in..

Specific operational question for a 2007 Prius.
Can anyone tell me about their use of the switch (momentary from Radio Shack)
It seems Im unable to stop ice start-up in the morning, the car is in the garage, 60 deg N Cali. I recall the limit is 30 deg and you cant override ice warm-up. I realize I have about 8 sec after pushing power switch to activate, but trying several combination's, counting secs, it will always start.

At 60F, it should activate as long as you press it in those first few seconds. If you're getting the "EV-deny" signal -- 3 quick beeps -- then one of the other EV-deny conditions exists, e.g., low HV battery state of charge. If you're not getting the signal, then either the switch isn't working or you have a loose connection. Does it work at other times?

The switch works fine otherwise, just installed yesterday. I have noticed from other posts that earlier models beep when engaged, the 2007 doesn't. just wondering if algorithms changed for 2007 model. 6 bars on battery meter. I push the button within 2 - 3 sec after power button. have tried later, also holding button for several secs after power switch.
