I'm looking into buying a used Prius: 2005, 06, 07 or 08 with low mileage (< or = 50K), anyone suggest one of these model years over the others?

Any other specific things to look for in a prospective car would be helpful. I'll be looking mostly at dealers but may consider private party sellers.

    Thanks!

I would look for a 2006 or newer. There were a few improvements over the 2005 and 2004 models.

Yep. Concur. 06 and newer should have the higher res LCD if the car comes w/the backup camera. The camera was a new option on the 06. Also, 06s and beyond can have an audio input jack.

See https://priuschat.com/forums/knowle...andard-optional-equipment-some-countries.html and http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...ed-prius-need-help-what-look.html#post1215778 for more info. There's now a service campaign on the inverter coolant pump. See http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...call-alert-2004-2007-inverter-water-pump.html.

06+ is a must as stated above.

If you really want to get nitty gritty a 2-year old used car is always the best deal. So now you'd be looking at a 2008 or 2009.

I personally love the 07 - but its strictly preference at that point...Agree with previous posters about 06+ - I'm sure you can find a used one for a decent price if you look around 25k mileage.

Because of improvements, I would look for a Gen III model. Welcome to PriusChat.

    Happy Motoring,

I would stay away from any with HID headlights.

Why? Cause of a minor flickering issue some people have, that is now covered by a warranty anyway? I love having HIDs. It sucks that the Gen III doesnt have them. ;)
