It has now come on 3 separate occasions, a week or more apart. Each time the yellow â€brake†or tire light comes on. The next few times they come on together at start up. Then the triangle by itself comes on, does not clear. First time I was driving up hill. Second time I had just hit a drive way riser (not jarring). Today I was driving on a straight level highway and it came on at around 55 MPH.

Battery had been replaced after first instance. The inverter valve replaced too. Now what? It drives normally. Though it is the yellow brake light that accompanies the triangle Toyota says that codes say battery problems. Wha?

If the warning light with a skidding car icon appears, that shows you that your tires have temporarily lost traction. That light should turn off as soon as your tire traction is restored.

If the warning light that looks like a tire tread appears, that shows you that tire pressure is low. I assume that you have a newer Prius (2006 or newer) with TPMS.

If the BRAKE warning light comes on and does not turn off, then a DTC has been logged by the skid control ECU. The DTC can be retrieved by your local Toyota dealer service dept. If you post the DTC then we can comment on that.

I think it is the yellow brake light though the local dealer calls it the “tire light.” Go figure.

Does the ScanGauge II pick up DTC codes?

Check your air pressure! One must be low? H

None were low but all 4 were up around 40. Can excessive pressure set off a sensor?

No . It is the low pressure tire light that is on? Wouldn't by any chance have a sensor on the spare? H

What are the specific DTCs? The yellow brake light is the brake control warning light, has nothing to do with tires, and looks like ((!)) where the inner parenthesis are a circle. Did your dealer check the linear solenoid initialization and zero point calibration to eliminate that as a possibility? What services were performed before this started happening?

Again, it is my all knowing, thoroughly trained[/sarcasm] Toyota service department that insists upon calling the yellow light a “Tire light.” The light looks like a brake light to me also. Oh well.

No relevant codes were written upon the invoice the first time this happened. The second time the following codes were reported: P3000, P0484 and B1421. The service tech noted no code pertinent to braking system, said that battery issues were present instead. I have no idea if the service tech checked “the linear solenoid initialization and zero point calibration.”

All this began 1 week after car was returned to me, after body work had just been done. A car had struck the rear passenger wheel well, causing a fair amount of damage to the front part of the well and the panel adjacent to it.

Okay, now we are getting somewhere! Unless you paid out of pocket, you need to contact the insurance company that paid for the work and tell them that, as a result of the accident and the repair work (impossible to know which one!), you now have computer problems. You could have a wire that is being shorted to ground, a computer or sensor could have been zapped by use of a MIG welder, etc.
