    I would like to THANKS PriusChat.com
    I have my 2010 prius since nov 2010
    Did not ready know the technic for how to get good mileage.
    I was only getting 45mpg
    Now I had been reading a lot from here, I am getting above 51 mpg.

    Some other words I also learn
    HU=head unit
    ICE=ignition combustion engine
    HSI=hybrid system Indicator
    P&G=pulse & glide
    Hypermiler (but I will not do behind big truck, follow too close to the vehicle in front or inflate my tires to max).
    What is PIP? I know it is for the gas gauge. But does it stand for some thing?
    MDF= ?
    There are still more that I will learn.
    Thanks again!

    I don't think pip is an acronym, but rather Pip - Definition and More from the Free Merriam-Webster Dictionary.

    Heck, even Star Trek: The Next Generation, they referred to pips on people's uniforms that corresponded to rank.

    Please note that these particular actions are tailgating, not hypermiling.

    Tailgaters save a little bit of fuel, but are taking considerable risk, and are severely limited by handing over speed control to someone else. Real hypermilers get better results by leaving safe following distances so they can control their own speeds while using more effective measures.

    And remember that hypermiling must be constrained to fit prevailing traffic conditions.

    Hmm, I don't know of a page but:

    HSD=Hybrid Synergy Drive
    SOC=State of Charge (hybrid battery)

    Good start. You don't have a MFD. You have a MID. (Multi-Information Display)

    On a Gen2 there was a "big" pretty screen on the dash about where your radio is.

    [QUOTE=Kentwang;
    Hypermiler (but I will not do behind big truck,

    The best I have read in several days. After driving 18 wheeler for 36 years....it's the worst thing that anyone can do......follow a truck to save on gas.

    The truck has 18 tires, maybe more.......that can blowout at any time throwing the rubber pieces or the whole tire thread back at you. Or should the truck hit a animal...the pieces will come flying out from behind the truck...right into your windshield.

    Please don't tailgate a truck to save fuel.......very bad idea.

    I think MDF is Medium Density Fiberboard. Not really sure how that applies :)
