Just bringing this thread upto date. Took the car for a full system reset, they found out the problem is with the sensors. Have to wait for the new sensors to be ordered and arrived before returning the car for replacement. That is strange because the sonar sensors were not part of the crash and were definitely not damaged. Maybe the repairer repainted the surface, but they did not admit it.

But now they have screwed up the reverse beeping... I had it disabled by the dealer I bought the car from, and after this system reset, it is back and they said it is not legal for them to turn off. Even if they can do it, there is no way to turn it off!!!! WHAT???

They said there are two options, constant and continuous. Can anyone tell me which setting I should be using in order for disabling the reverse beeping?

Yes, it returns after an electrical system reset. It is one of the Prius personalized settings so of course it's legal. You can always go back to the dealer you bought the car from if the body shop refuses to do it.

You want the "Beeps once" setting (one constant beep when you shift into reverse). "Beeps repeatedly" is default.

Here is a chapter out of the North American owner's manual. Check page 592.

That is interesting that the sensors themselves were the issue even though they weren't directly involved in the collision.

Hey all, latest update to the sensor issue; they have both being replaced last Friday and the IPA is now back..... partially! Well, the left one is good but the right one does not always work, relative to the left one's anyway. I took it back to the dealer and he was saying since we drive on the left side and most likely find parking on the left, the right sensor was sort-of designed to be 'weaker' this way. He has a point about parking on the left most of the time, but I am still not 100% happy with the suggested answer. They have given me 1 month to test the right one out and will look into it further if I am still not happy.

The question to my US folks is, do you experience the same anomoly or undocumented design feature with your Prius, assuming the weaker sensor is on your left?

Glad to hear it's working! (even if it is partially). I haven't noticed a difference and again, I rarely park on the left side but at least the times I did, I haven't noticed a reduction in the accuracy of the green box.

Also, it makes no sense. It's easier to have the same sensor for both side than to manufacture two types

    Hi folks,

Trying to activate the IPA today for my routine checkup, and instead of showing me the IPA screen while activating by pressing the IPA button, the car just give me 2 beeps.

Do you know what the double beeps indicating at all?

It usually means "operation cancelled" or "function cannot be activated at this time". You'll hear two beeps for radar cruise cancelling and EV Drive mode cancelling (or if you can't get into EV Drive Mode)

Thanks for the prompt reply Tideland. That is very strange indeed because it has been working OK after the sensors were replaced last month and now this? The car was at rest and I have been using it as I would normally.

The only thing happen between the replacement and now is a 30k service interval. But that's just service and should not affect IPA at all, or is it? I recall them adjusting the handbrake as part of the service, even though I did not ask for it. Just wondering whether that has anything to do with this?

Now I am in two mind whether I should bring my car back to the dealer I bought it from (and last serviced at) or the dealer the sensors were replaced. Grrr, the IPA is not what it used to be anymore... problem free!

    Hi all,

Just reporting back to my situation with the IPA sensors. I believed it has now been sorted after multiple visits to Toyota service departments and a few more tweaks to the installation.

The IPA is now working just as before the accident. Apparently, the technician said the sensors must be placed in a specific way in order for it to work properly. Also, we discovered the sensors would not work well with yellow lines. This would be helpful for those who has a frontal crash and need to know what to look out for in fixing the IPA.

If anyone needs more info, I can always ring up the tech and ask him specifically what he did to fix mine.

In addition to my question in the previous post, the reason why the IPA was cancelling while trying to engage is because the "IPA button" shown on the NAV while gear shifted to reverse was switched off by the tech who serviced the car for unknown reason.

My four week old prius has just developed the exact same thing and I was hoping that someone on here would know what it was as I'm having to wait over a week to get into the dealer
