I have tried looking everywhere but can't find the answer

I am cleaning my car out and can't seem to remove the driver side floor mat (can't remove it from the two hooks), is there a special way they are supposed to be removed? I have checked the manual and online and there seems to be no information on it

It's the first of the third gen Prius if that helps any, thanks

It's tricky. Place one hand underneath the mat near the hook and lift up while pushing the tip of the hook in using your other hand, one hook at a time.

    Thanks

I did end up getting it off using a pair of needle nose pliers, I'll have to try out your suggestion and see if it's easier

I just pop the hooks out from the floor then pop them back in. :)

The mat can be lifted off the hooks, but: they're a lot more tenacious than our previous Honda mats. Maybe purposely, due to the floor mat jambing accelerator issues?

You need to get a hand under the mat, flex it up onto the tip of the hook, push down on the hook, up and back on the mat, dump half the accumulated grit onto the carpet in the process.

As previously stated, I lift from underneath behind the eye then push forward. They get easier and loosen up with more removals.

Just do a once-over with a vacuum before you take it out.

That kind of defeats the purpose of a quick shake outside of the car to help keep the carpeting clean. I was not impressed with the oem carpeted mats for protection and opted for the Husky floor liners. (which may stay in permanently)
