Are you sure that's the correct price for a Five with ATP?

Sounds like full retail sticker. What does Edmunds.com or KBB.com say? If you plan on keeping this car for a very long time, maybe a 2010 would be a better value.

Your looking At like 35 Grand OTD? Dealer fees!!
    I would look for a nice 2010 and save 8 to 10K!!
I don't know the way the dollar is going you might want to lock in
and order!Whats the sticker? Look at CARS.com- search New
    to see whats around!
You might save $$$ if a dealer has one,Thats how I try to buy.
The Prius V is the best car for the money!

I did a quick check at kbb.com and looks like you're getting the car near dealer invoice. Keep in mind, the car does not have a lot of markup as compared to some US models. If you want all those extras, enjoy the ride! I still think a 2010 with the same package would offer a little more savings. There is no difference between 2010 and 2011. Like I said on a previous reply, if you plan on keeping this car for a very long time, the 2010 won't hurt you.

I really don’t know what to do at this point! 2010 looks good but already a year old where the 2011 are not on the lots (at less the 2011 V’s the one I am looking for)

A 5AT msrp is $34160. The AAA price around here is full invoice at $31917. You'll need to use your own zip code to see your local price. I wouldn't drive to NJ to save $251.

Use the Build Your Car function on the Toyota website. That will give you the sticker price. I just did it and got $34,277 (includes wheel locks and mats). The AT package (includes Nav) is a $5k option. Your price doesn't seem too bad. I found one 2010 leftover in our area with a sticker price of $34,210. They might cut a better deal on a 2010 but there aren't many left and there aren't many 2011 V's on the lots yet. Not much incentive for them to do a lot better on the 2010, it's the same car.

Sounds like a shocking waste of money. I got my Prius II for $22k or thereabouts. $10k more for leather and a few gadgets, good heavens you might as well just put up a youtube vid of burning the cash, it will get a lot of hits.

LOL !! I just bought my 10-II for $21K, down from $23,760. I liked getting the same car as the $35k ones for $14K less. I'm not one to buy all the extra bells and whistles, but understand that some people want all that stuff. Leather, sunroof and the very questionable hokey tech stuff (IMO) doesn't interest me at all. The good thing is that the loaded $35K ones, while losing almost all the value of all that stuff in the first year, helps prop up the value of mine !!

To each their own !! :D

Yeah.....the "V" isn't what you call a budget car---that's for sure, but I understand where the Aichi Iron Works is coming from with this model. They're targeting current luxury car drivers who are (or want people to think that they are) 'concerned' about the environment.
Still....I'm happy that folks have a wide range of up-optioned Priuses to drive if they find the II a little to spartan. Takes all kinds.....:D

Back to the original point of the thread.....
You're almost never better off buying a a new model year when there's a 'leftover' sitting beside it on the lot. This is especially true if there is no difference between the two model years....and especially true if you have to special order or the dealer has to 'find' your 'newer' new car,

The only ways that you would be 'better off' getting an 11 'V' over a 10 'V' is if you're an exceptionally low mileage driver who buys a new car every year or so---in which case you really shouldn't be worried about the money angle, since you're throwing it away by the bale full anyway. If you 'know' you're going to be keeping the car for 3-4 years, and you drive more than 15-20K miles per year, smart money says get the '10.
This may be especially true for the Prius, since everybody is running around with their hands in the air screaming that gas is going to be $10 a gallon before the year is out (just like they did last year....:) )
If gas prices do rise, then used Priuses---even the overly expensive "V" models, will be worth more on the used car market.

    FWIW..... (about $0.02)

It is shocking at how childish (or is it jealousy?) a few II owners are! Why come into a thread like this to bash an upper equipped car? That is just dumb...and pathetic! (And BTW, it does show your true colors!)

For some of us, we like a good stereo system, leather (instead of cheapo fabric, and they are damn cheap on the Prius II-III) with actual back support, SKS all-around, navigation with backup camera and good USB feature, amazingly bright LED headlights, good looking 17" rims, and awesome technologies that are not seen in ANY car below $45,000+. Questionable technology? Well, it sure seems like everyone is adopting this technology...and is considered the "required" safety technology in all luxury brands! There is already some talk about radar PCS being required in the future on all cars....

For those with a II, you guys could have bought a Corolla and come out waaaaayyyy ahead. I would not get a II, even if it was free. Actually, i lie, i would get it and sell it right back for cash...and then i will burn $10 worth of it on Youtube for you Skoor.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back on topic, i think that the price quoted is decent. I would also try to get the dealer to throw in some accessories for that price (rear bumper guard, all-season mats, 1 free updated DVD, door edge guards, etc).

REV, maybe you should do a tiny bit more research into stuff...because people like you may one day rear-end me due to gross ignorance.

    According to this link: http://www.esafetychallenge.eu/download/challenge/esafety_background_paper.pdf

(BTW, there are many more like the above link to support these technologies!)

Warning and Emergency Braking Systems detect at an early stage the danger of an accident with the vehicle in front of you. In the case of a potential collision, they warn you about the danger, and when there is no reaction to the warning, the technologies activate the brakes together with systems such as seatbelt pretension to avoid or mitigate a crash.

Benefits: “28% less rear-end collisions with personal injury

Lane Support Systems can assist and warn you when you unintentionally leave the road lane or when you change lanes without indication. Sometimes a moment of inattention is enough to make your vehicle stray from its lane. The systems monitor the position of the vehicle in the road lane and while Lane Departure Warning warns you if the car unintentionally wanders from the path, Lane Keeping Support helps you correct the course of your car.

Benefits: “15% less deaths on European roads”

Studies show that more deaths occur from rear-end crashes than any other kind. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has estimated that the Forward Collision Warning function with Automatic Braking alone could be relevant for around 2,268,000 accidents every year in the US, of which 7,166 are fatal.

The European Commission funded project eIMPACT estimated that if all vehicles in Europe were equipped with the Lane Keep Assist system, the number of deaths would decrease by 15% and the number of injuries by 8.9%. Given today’s number of deaths in Europe this would represent 6,300 lives saved each year.

In the US, the IIHS estimates that the Lane Departure Warning system could help in approximately 483,000 accidents every year, of which 10,345 are fatal.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------
So, actually, in the near future when all cars will be required or optioned with these PROVEN technologies, your basic model II may not be as sought after as you dream about it today....

    To each their own!!

Soooo, Falcon...you've heard all the rants from us PriusChatters, so whatchya gonna do? Whichever way you decide, will be best for you. If you get a new Prius, I hope you drive it with a huge smile on your face, get many, many miles of trouble-free driving and nothing under 52MPGs.

    Good luck.

Been driving for 39 years and never rear-ended anybody yet, and I can park my own car, and keep my car in it's own lane with the steering wheel, thank you. Unless you're an incompetent driver to begin with, why would anyone need or want all that hokey 'technology' ?

All this anger because someone had a different opinion than you ?? WOW :D

Sounds like a serious case of buyer's remorse.

One caution for anyone buying a car with the NAV: Ensure the contract states version 10 DVD or subtract $200 if it has version 9. No point paying for an old DVD when the new one is out.

Don't have it on our Canadian Touring model, which has the V's headlights and wheels, but that's about it, but the Radar collision avoidance sounds very desirable. All it takes is a moment of inattention to slam into someone. If radar will auto-apply brakes with a collision imminent, and do it consistantly, that's a big plus.

Yup, sounds like gross ignorance to me!

Just responding in kind to your jealous crap.... Buyer's Remorse...wouldn't i just trade in my V and get that crap II...and still have money left over! No thanks.
