Why would anyone Own a Prius

I do not know, it usually seems when I luxury auto makes a "small" less expensive car they turn out to be lesser than their more expensive kin, not up to the build quality.

 

smaller with lower mileage? the interior better be spectacular!

 

Love the CT's interior, really dislike it's exterior. Plus my Prius III was around $23k and I don't think the CT is worth almost 50% more.

 

My Prius was $21K, so now we're at 50% more for a CT, with worse mileage, unpredictable (although probably good) reliability, and ho hum copied looks from existing vehicles.

I'll stick with my $21K Prius, rather than a gussied up Matrix or Mazda 3 hatch look-alike.

Now if I was going to spend $31K+ on a car, it wouldn't be on a Prius. Even if you add $10-12K worth of goodies to a Prius ... it's still a $21K Prius with $10-12K worth of add-ons. A Prius is a $20K car .... not a $30K car, as far as I'm concerned. A GREAT $20K car .... but a $20K car nonetheless.

I would love the dash and seats of the CT in my Prius. I bought mine because it had almost as much room as the Camry Hybrid, which I didn't like. I need the room, especially in the back seat, so the CT as is wouldn't work for me.

Prius is like the average or maybe slightly plain looking spouse that's very faithful and useful.

CT200h more like the spouse who's definitely hotter lookswise, but not as devoted or useful.

Obviously, the CT has hit our shores early, so welcome CT!

Yes, many will jump ship and certain types will come over into the hybrid world. It's a good thing - need to burn less gas.

 

CT will seat driver and passenger much more like my Accord Coupe which means you have to go down low to get in.

Prius seat height is for sure a couple to few inches higher, so easier to get in and out of.

But, if you like that low slung out seating and low CoG, get CT.

 

:thumb: I too like comparing cars to women, ONLY because I respond emotionally to both instinctively. The Prius is slight chunky but cute as hell and light on my wallet. The CT is more arm-candy but I like a little more junk in the trunk than what she's got.

 

Interior of Matrix is pretty much rank and sort of juvenile. CT definitely upscale and has a classic sport console layout with guages in usual place. Plus multi-link rear suspension.

CT will compete more with an Audi A3 hatchback, not Mazda3 or Matrix.

That said, Mazda3 hatch is a really good bang for the buck if that's what one wants. It was #2 on the list.

 

Quality, heard that. So far the Accord quality is all that. Not to rub it in, but that's what I've found. Now if it just averaged 45 MPG...

 

Ah, but there is nothing wrong with standard 'run of the mill' looking interior, 'cause know why? That is what people are used to. It looks sporty and classic, befitting of this type of car.

Prius designed to be futuristic.

But, this CT can average 42 MPG which is a heckuva lot more than 28 MPG which is what it would average if it was an ICE only.

 

Obviously you're big on interiors, given your obsession with how cars fit you, but for me, it doesn't matter how nice the interior is if the exterior is no match for it.

 

I bet Toyota are s##ting bricks about losing sales to Lexus ...

If that is what a Prius would have cost me, I'd still be driving a Honda.

 

Nice car but I'll wait until some reviews come out to see if it is worth it.

 

If there was ever a car that people mocked as a status car, this is it.

Nevertheless, it's poised for success.
