Looks like we'll be new members to the Prius family tomorrow morning unless someone cries foul on the deal? Looking at:

2011 Prius III, standard model plus some floormats and tint, for $23,100 + TTL thru their Internet Sale Mgr.; we've been OK'd thru TFS for the 2.9%/60mos. Per TrueCar.com, says the pricing is 'great' and wanted to check in with other on the forum to validate.

Looks to be about $2k in back of MSRP and $600 or so back of invoice. Looks to be fair, and the dealership (amongst the several available in the Phoenix area) came recommended by fellow colleagues.

Looking for thoughts on the matter - thanks! :music:

Joe I see you live in Arizona. For that price is sounds like a good deal.

FYI I live in Cali and got that same price with a 2011 Prius II. I went through a car broker.

If you want you can email a car broker and see if they can do better. Usually they'll give you a pretty quick answer.

I'm getting that kind of price quote around my area (TN) for 2010 models (no mats, tint). Heck, I might take a trip out to AZ, enjoy the nice weather, AND get a better deal on a 2011!

And I'm assuming you have no trade-in? Otherwise, they could be making money on that, hence the lower price quote?

    brokers

One observation: I sell a lot of Prius to folks thru brokers, and what that means is I take a very low price, an aggressive price, and add the broker's cut to the top of the deal and then they offer it to the buyer.
Meaning, while brokers are good resources for those who are busy, rushed, or want to use a middleman and don't care about payment or pricing as much as they care about getting the right car ... if you want to SAVE money and have a better deal, you don't use a broker. You reach someone like me to cut out the middle man.
    :)

Yes. We all know there's no such thing as free labor (unless you live in North Korea). Bottom it's all up to the buyer and how much time they want to devote to looking for a good deal. Sure you can go to a sales person and waste a couple hours of talking and negotiations (on top with that the pressure) OR you can have a broker do it and sit back and relax till they get you a price you want. Then email (if they want) the dealerships to see if they can beat the price. But from my experience it's only a matter or a couple dollars. I rather give the commission to the person who did the hard work, which is the broker.

Basically I think car brokers are good starting points.

I deliver cars to folks via brokers all the time. You get what you pay for, that's for certain! You want no hassle, no fuss, just a car in your driveway and a non-dealership experience, you just pay the broker their $500 or $1000 or more.

The point I was trying to make was that if you can find someone like me at your local area, and cut a really good deal, and a fair experience, your broker can't match or beat the deal - my deals for PC folks don't have the extra $500+++ gravy a broker wants to make. Finding ME or someone like me isn't easy but when you do, ie. find someone you can trust, you can eliminate the middle man.

Bisco, you're sweet! I can help folks in a few states and make sense... a lot of factors figure in like shipping costs, distance, and incentives in other regions that compare to mine.

I'm no pollyanna - there have to be others in other states who are like me, or have my "ways"... I've got to believe that in time, we're all going to be using the internet to transact business in so many ways... it's where we're headed. People are going to need to stand their ground, as salespeople, and take their power to the next level. There are good people out there with CALIBER. Find them!

As an update, we signed the deal on the 2011 Model III this morning, and it was as-discussed: $23,000 w/ tint and mats + TTL and we were in and out of the dealership in less than 2 hours. To address the UTGrad's question: no trade-in.

They came close to matching the price on the 7yr/100k mi. warranty offered here on the site for $1,055 ($1200) and lowered the interest ¼-point to 2.65% through TFS for 60 mos. so we accepted that as well.

All-in-all, drove off with zero out of pocket for less than $500/mo. The only pisser is I was informed that Arizona no longer offers the Alternative Fuel/Clean Air plate that lets us use the carpool lane with only one person... it appears they discontinued the plate series and only offer it on a random lottery basis. Lame.

Looking forward to being a member on the site!

I bought my 2011 Prius 3 yesterday with the Navi/ Solar sunroof upgrade.. also floor mats and illuminated door sills for 27,849.00 I live in California. Something sounds wrong for that price if it doesn't have Navi or Solar or sunroof.. I put no money down and 1.9 APR on a purchase threw Toyota.

:noidea: Sticker was $25,404, didn't include (nor did we want) Navi/Solar, so I'd have to believe $2,400 off sticker isn't terrible?

The ones with those options were coming in around $28-$29k, and after TTL, etc., that was more than we were comfotable with as we wanted to stay under $500/mo seeing as this is our third car (commuter).

According to TFS, per our ZIP code/service area, best available rate was 2.9%, our credit union couldn't do better than 4%. We kindof wish we hadn't missed the boat on the 0.9% that expired 12/31, but we didn't know at the time we we're going to endeavor upon owning one of these things.

Ah well, what's done is done

I bought my 2010 in October 2009 from Bill Benjamin of Expressway Toyota near Boston MA. (888-588-6482). The price was very good ( about $1500 below sticker) at a time that most dealers were charging up to $1K above sticker. You could probably do a lot better now - the problem with being on the bleeding edge. The transaction went very smoothly, they programmed the variable parameters the way I wanted (no reverse beep, all door open, etc.) and procured and installed the side door guards and door molding. I arranged my own shipping to Long Island NY (about $300).
