    Good evening,

Can someone provide me few informations about the real compatibility with the iPod and iPhone ? Or to help me to create a table. In my Prius 2010 model's, my iPhone is only showed as a disks charger. But I see in a YouTube video that's possible to see an iPod touch 4G in USB with the ability to select artists.

It's possible to confirm me that if I order an iPod touch 4G it will work in USB with my Prius 3 ?

    Regards,

    Florent

PS : Sorry for my English

I have both Ipod touch 3g and 4g and both works very well in my Prius...you can select playlist, artists, and songs, etc. from them.

Thanks a lot, so I will order a new iPod touch 4G and leave it in the car.

But it's probably interesting to create a table with the exact compatiblity and if it's working as USB device or disks charger.

    Regards,

    Florent

Not sure what you mean, but both my Itouches charge and play via USB. BT audio streaming also works very well with both generations.

When you plug a USB device like the iPod/iPhone/iPad to the Prius, I don't know why, but some appears as a disk charger and some appears as a USB device. I want to be sur that the iPod touch 4G appears in the USB tab and can select artists and not only the playlists.

Yup, USB tab. I have NEVER gotten anything else with either generation of iTouch.

I received today my new iPod 4G. Unfortunately it doesn't work in USB mode, and only in disk charger mode (where I can't select artists and albums).

I am really disappointed by the iPod kit, are there many different models? Can someone help me understand why?

Did the USB kit come with your car or is it an accessory?? Do you have navigation?? Playlist etc. only comes on if you have navigation i think, which i do.

If you have navigation and factory USB connection, then i don't know why your itouch 4g is not showing up. Have you try re-sync with your laptop and connecting the iTouch to the Prius USB again? If not, then try it again. Music is from iTunes, right?

This is an official Toyota accessory, but it was installed later. It's not coming from the factory. Yes, I've the navigation's system.

Yes, the iPod touch 4G is new, directly from the original box. The music is only from iTunes, I've no illegal song, only music from iTunes Store.

Is it that there are several models of the kit?

    Some pictures :

    No USB tab :( :

But the iPod touch 4G is correctly connected :

My USB is from factory. You may want to ask your dealer. Both my generation works well with my factory USB.

Dude, i am so sorry that you have issues...and you bought it based on my recommendation!! :(

My USB tab goes away when i unplug my iTouch and reappears when i plug it in.

With my old Samsung Epic (galaxy s Android phone), i had a hard time getting USB tab to appear when i plug it in. Not so with my Apple stuff.

If you got your USB connection at the dealer, then i think that someone messed up when they install it! I don't know how those aftersales USB kits work, but my factory USB connection has been flawless with Apple stuff for me.

Don't worry about that, an iPod is never a bad investment. Now I know that my Prius have a different iPod kit's or a problem ;)

Good to know, I never see it.

This is my opinion too, perhaps an firmware update or something like that. Or the european models are perhaps different!

Thanks for all your informations !

After looking at Toyota Switzerland, I received the information I needed.

The navigation system is not the same between the European and American versions. The European model has a hard disk of 40GB that contains embedded maps and offers the ability to copy audio CDs to the hard disk. That's why the iPod kit is seen as a disks charger and the USB tab doesn't exist on the European version.

In my opinion, the solution proposed in the U.S. is much more convenient ... :(

Ahhh...i see...yeah, i agree, with Ipods now having tons of memory, these hard disk-based audio system is useless. I don't use my Cd changer at all now...all thru my Ipod. That sucks on your end.:(

What is the point of having USB if you can only charge?!! Wouldn't be easier just to plug it into the cigarette lighter outlet? Why make a USB and limit its main use?
