I'm in the carpool lane but it's got a bit of traffic. Slow & Go is what I would call it. Traffic waves are maxing at 60 mph and slowing down 25 mph. Avg is perhaps 40 mph. This is for 20 miles.

On curves, I can totally see all the red tail lights ahead, so I don't gun the vehicle, I keep the max on the throttle to accelerate while under the eco light. So you know sometimes you get quite a gap in front of you but you catch up when everyone hits their brakes.

This Gen II Prius is right on my tail -- can't tell if he's by himself with HOV stickers, or with a passenger. At first I speed out of my rhythm to keep him happy, but after a few miles, I'm like I'm not gonna speed up to catch the next wave of red lights.

The funny thing is when traffic in the carpool lane clears up, there's a Scion tC in front of me and he's just happy to keep the speed limit in carpool. Traffic is slower outside of carpool so nobody can pass the Scion. I'm fine with it as long as I'm not the one holding up everyone behind me. The Gen II Prius is still on my tail. I'm like "hello, I'm not the one holding up traffic".

I'm like LOL, "are you drafting me?"

OK, I'll admit this. About 10 years ago, before I ever thought about buying a nice car (not even sure a Prius existed), I was driving in Hawaii. I live in Los Angeles. So I'm driving to the beach on H-1, and I am on the bumper of the guy in front of me. There was nobody in front of him! How dare he drive 55MPH in a 55MPH zone! Oops. Forgot, I'm not in Los Angeles. Figured I'd go with the flow, took my time to get to the beach, and had a wonderful vacation.

Moral of the story: Don't be a jerk, ever.

We got agressively tailgated by a Prius cab, maybe one kilometer from destination: Vancouver International Airport. In the right lane, doing the limit, nighttime. Also see a lot of local Prius cabs doing protracted idling. Depressing ;(

That gen II prius had nothing to do with the tailgating. It was an a$$hole driver that was tailgating you. Reminds of the old stories in the late 90s about how "The SUV killed three people in the parking lot" as though the SUV became alive and was seeking vengeance.

Of course you are correct, I'm not labeling or generalizing Gen II Prius drivers in any way. It just happened to be the vehicle following me. Of course I get tailgated all the time by non-Priuses. It was just more noticeable because I notice other Priuses a lot more, especially if I'm following one or being followed by one.

It is also interesting to point out that all kinds of people drive Priuses for different reasons. On this forum, many folks are focused on FE. So it sticks out like a sore thumb when we see an ultra aggressive Prius. I'm thinking this guy, given the style of driving, drives it for the HOV sticker and to get home quicker. The HOV sticker program ended a long time ago so for the most part, only HCH, Civic LNG, Gen I's, and Gen II's have them.

It's also easier to label cars by what they are, like "that Escalade ESV just cut me off!", or "back-off darn BMW three", etc.
