So we have a $2000 incentive on the 2011 Toyota Prius....but it might be over as of Feb 28th.
My salesman contacted me today with a heads-up on this, as I wasn't planning on a purchase till April.
What do the rest of you think?
Should I pull the trigger now and save the $2000 or wait till April and hope the incentives are still available? I'd really rather make the purchase in April but I'd hate to lose the 2k bonus.

    ah decisions....decisions......advice is welcome.

that's great news for buyers, but reflects the sad state of affairs for prius sales. and/or the economy.

You have to realize that 007 is in Canada ... those incentives aren't available in the states as far as I've seen. I know they're NOT available in eastern PA.

From what my salesman (who is a friend) told me ... Prii are flying off the lot due to gas prices escalating, and he predicts most incentives are going to be scaled way back in March.

Prices are sky high in Canada, and they're not very competitive up there, due to the outrageous prices.

That is quite an incentive... I would go for it!

well, I'm leaning that way, due to the price of gas & oil jumping from the chaos in Libya, my salesman doesn't think the deal will last after March 1st....but again, its all a roll of the dice.
Its going to knock my price from $34,000 to $32,000, that's a big help.

I just bought my Prius and got it below MSRP, but my dealer told me that they were bumping up the prices (not accepting offers below MSRP) starting on Monday, 2/28. Glad I got mine now! Got a new 2011 Sandy Beach metallic with the nav package. Love, love, love it!

If you're talking about roughly a 30 day difference to gain $2000, what is there to think about ? That would be a very foolish 'roll of the dice' if you ask me. If you've already decided ... why have an artificial timetable cost you $2K ?

    Are you a Costco menber?
Here in the US. We have Costco auto buying programs.
When you go to the assign leader, you don't deal with sale man, you deal with fleet manager.
He will show you the price below msrp.

Definitely take advantage of an incentive, eh? If gas prices continue to spike (which I think they will), dealers may stop negotiating if supply and demand peaks. I'm think that $4 (U.S.) per gallon will cause buyer panic for more hybrids and electrics!

If gas keeps spiking you'll be pissed you hadn't. And if gas stops spiking, and in a month the incentive is as good or better you'll regret it. I know that in the US now we're fully a year into the Toyota with its "incentives" that are about to expire around the corner. They keep pushing them forward with new but similar ones month after month after month.

I think $32k for a Prius is crazy talk, though, they are too pricey in Canada.

Just FYI... costco price is a lot higher (albeit lower than MSRP) than what the car can be had for.

Would suggest using Truecar.com which is what I used and got a much better deal (about $800 lower than the costco price).

I just bought a 2010 for dealer invoice (2k under sticker), with .9%apr. Not sure it was a super sweet deal, but it was painless none the less. I don't regret not waiting (I could have, honestly) but now gas is going up, I feel much more justified.

We're buying a 2011 at $100 over invoice. Should be in within a couple of days.

This from MSNBC may change the game a bit too:

The new recall, industry observers warn, could raise anew concerns about a company that has traditionally had a reputation for building bulletproof, safe and highly reliable products, and it could force Toyota to ramp up the already hefty incentives it has had to offer to counter a rare slide in sales.

We just bought a 2011 for less than invoice price. Less than Edmunds TMV as well.
