100mph is Yaris 1.0cl level speed for euro highways... maybe too little for such expensive car.

Yeah, the prius is kind of laughed at with it's 110mph top speed, if it can't break 200kph it's not a "real" car, so ampera with 160kph is not good.

Hey I really wouldn't want either on the autobahn. Do they have high speed limits in great Britain? I don't think I've ever driven there. For American roads the prius, volt, and even leaf have fine top speeds. They may be lacking in other areas though.

Highest limit for dual carriageway or motorway is 70mph. It's not uncommon for people to drive on motorways at 100mph+. I was able to drive my last car at 120mph without getting any attention.

Imperial units of measure are volumes, not distances.

    What's the Prius cost in Jan/Feb ?

35kwh/100mi is better than what Edmunds getting , probably due to the temp.

The media is catching up on Volt Fraud. It addresses concerns we discussed on PriusChat.

Yes, readers must be impressed with the understanding, intelligence, and engineering ability of many PC contributors. There are many threads that I read, appreciate, but have no contribution because the topics are issues I know little about ... especially electricity, batteries, and kwh/gasoline ratios. Botton line, it is very difficult for a manufacturer to "over-state" a product and not be exposed by PC writers. The Volt is being marketed for the less-informed public.

You still haven't told us where you got that 80kW number, one which I have not seen anywhere else.

Funny enough, the Volt forums routinely have posts from members congratulating themselves for being smarter and better informed that the rest.

Reminds me of the odd arrogance of climate change denialists.

Noticed and ignored. My last car was a popular choice for unmarked police vehicles, so no-one would pay attention to it breaking the speed limit. Definitely seen cars going much much faster on our roads.

The biggest gripe the prii seem to have against the Volt is it not living up to the hype. I agree it would have been better if GM under promised and over delivered, but that doesn't mean what they did manage isn't amazing.

If this is a euphemism for "GM lied at every turn and is still lying." I agree.
    230 MPG, check.
    Not a Hybrid, check.
    40 mile range, check.
Better Cd than a Prius, check.

It gets 37 MPG on Premium gas.
    It seats 4.
It does not have much of a warranty.
    It pollutes heavily.
It is priced at least twice as high as it's interior reflects.
I am amazed they sell any.

Yep... besides the "230 mpg" claim, they kept saying they were targeting 50 mpg in charge sustained mode. Whoops.

What's it lacking compared to the Prius?
