What camera, does it project a side view image on the window so that the drag of a side view mirror isn't there? That's a good, natural idea. However, what do you do when window is down?

The car looks nice. If a Prius can pull 51 this will obviously do a bit better. If Toyota can keep bumping up its mileage it's going to be almost as cheap to run one of these as a Leaf or Volt (on its EV) without the premium and range problems. Poor EVs. I wonder if they were just a bit late to the party with their current shortcomings.

 

True. Head turning is a rather odd concept to begin with anyway.

Thes all look like really nice cars. I would drive any of them. Of course, price is everything. I would not pay more for either of those than I did for my Prius, which wasn't much.

 

Wrong. Quoting Toyota European site:

Auris: Consumption of 4.0 l/100km combined on the Euro test cycle. CO2 emission 93 g/km.

Prius: Consumption of 3.9 l/100km combined. CO2 emission 89 g/km on same cycle.

It's probably the aerodynamics but Prius is still the most efficient hybrid in the market.

Both auris and prius have different ratings for different wheel sizes. for auris with standard 15" wheels it's 3.8l/100K (74.3MPG), at 89g.

Those are Euro five million liters to the gallon gallons. US ones that works out to 62 mpg.

 

Yes i know. My only point is that the auris is more economical than the prius, when fitted with the same size wheels. Both take a hit with 17's, but Auris is still better. It may only get 51mpg on the EPA test, but that is still better than Prius.

CT200h is also more economical than prius in europe and much less so in usa, because of different testing.

 

Right, so under the american test the prius gets 50, and the auris (prius C) may get 51, and the yaris may get 55 or higher. The auris is more economical than the prius.

 

The announced figures for the CT show more, not less, fuel consumed compared to a Prius. The combined fuel consumption is 4.1L/100km (Prius: 3.9 - lower is better), which is 68.9 mpg (UK) compared to 72.4 for the Prius (higher is better). The UK mpg figures are a conversion of the rounded metric figures.

www.fueleconomy.gov shows 42mpg (US) for the CT, compared to 50 for the Prius.

On the EU test, the CT uses 5.1% more fuel. In US figures it's 19% more.

 

My brochure says that 17" alloys (255/45 R17) are standard. The SE-I has fabric seats. I don't know what NuLuxe is - no reference in this brochure, it simply says 'leather', and they'd be in trouble from the Trade Descriptions Act if it wasn't.

Kerb weight is 1370-1410 kg depending on spec; I believe the measurement is all fluids fully topped-up, full tank of fuel, and figuring a 75kg driver.

 

This is the part I am having trouble understanding. The drive cycle ratios for the same comparo are usually much closer together.

 

That strengthen my believe that if you drive CT200h gently, you can get MPG as good as Gen2 Prius (also driven gently). Drive it more aggressively and CT200h MPG will dip faster.

 

Both use the same hardware HSD, so I understand what you are saying about driving the CT200h gently and getting Prius MPG, yet due to the software allowing "sport mode" power, driving it hard would consume more fuel. How does the curb weight compare between the two, and how about the drag coefficients? Anyone know? (If I had a full computer in front of me, I would look it up).

Does anyone know if the battery size and discharge rate are identical?
