Not a bad list except for the Flex with 16/22. That's pitiful when they have other large SUVs like the highlander with 28/28, which I do think is seriously impressive for a tow-capable 7 seater AWD vehicle.

Tahoe Hybrid is 20/23, but it's a freaking massive vehicle, so those numbers are pretty good.

I found the definition the Nissan Juke an SUV questionable, too.

Basically, at $4 per gallon, anything that only delivers 30 MPG is a guzzler.

28/28? According to this review, that's a new set of numbers, a step up from the 2010. I did not know that. Very nice. $37k starting, though.

What's the deal with the AWD system? Hybridcars criticizes it, saying it's not ideal for demanding terrain. Toyota.com says "Note: The Highlander Hybrid is not designed to be driven off-road."

Yep I thought it was 2011, but the recent highlander gets better mileage than the one a couple years ago. I think its lack of off-road abilities will, in practice, affect nearly nobody ;)

What's up with Nissan lately, that Juke is down right hidious! Not a real fan of the bottom feeding carp look of the Leaf either... I think the Nissan design team is spending too much time at the KOI Pond!

I think Prius has ruined every other car for me. Getting fuel economy in the 20-30 mpg range seems shockingly low to me now.

I bought my Kia Sorento last year to save gas (the Chrysler T&C it replaced got 17 mpg), but I've driven it only once since the Prius came home.

That is a risk I'm possibly facing, too. Although our next vehicle probably still has to have a third row. I could buy a highlander hybrid. It will save me nothing over a non-hybrid but it's almost like it causes me pain to not regenerate when braking.

Yes, the juke could have been a neat vehicle except for the ghastly lights.

Yes, I hate that "no regen" thing in my Subaru too. And knowing that a brake job is in my near future sucks too.

I REALLY wish someone would create an economical AWD vehicle that could do 35+ MPGs. The Highlander and Escape Hybrids are close, but they cost too much. I really only want an SUV for the AWD part of it. So I had to "settle" for the Impreza AWD. It's cheap and it's AWD, but it sure is thirsty.

Oh, and I ALMOST bought a Juke, but it was a bit more expensive, requires premium fuel and, as everyone pointed out already, it is U G L Y. But I could have lived with ugly had it not been for the other two issues. :) Sure was a fun test drive though!

Hwy mpg rating means very little to me. I usually end up always getting city mpg with suvs, so the city rating is usually a stomach turner.

I thought they were pretty good, comparatively speaking. My '99 Outback got 24 mpg consistently, which is less than half of the Prius, but better than other large AWD wagons that I considered. It was a great car for snow.

I had a 99 or 2000 outback wagon impreza and felt like I was paying for most of Saudi arabia's government budget each time I went to the pump. Looking on fueleconomy.gov I see then, and also for 2011 the base model Subaru gets 20 mpg city. That's really not great for a tiny, gutless car :(

The AWD system has a lot more internal friction that lowers the actual wheel output of the car.
