What is the thread size on the Prius shifters/shiftknobs? I found a guy who custom makes them and I wanted to try one out.

M6x1.0 is the thread size. Real damn small. Makes it real difficult to work with unless you're making your own. Anyone have access to someone who can make thread adapters to fit different size shifters?

Would have been a little nicer although that's still small although I think I've seen knobs that will fir that size.

^^ Yeah most toyota auto thread pitches are that size. Guess I'll be making an adapter for the knob I ordered >_<

I like this too, but isn't the shift pattern backwards for our cars?

That is really damn small. Most Toyotas (and Hondas) are like M10x1.5 or 1.25, so M6x1.0 is very small. At least one guy I found will custom make them for around $35, so I may give him a try and report back afterwards with some pictures.

It is backwards, but how often will you or others look closely at it? It took me a second to realize it was backwards the first time I saw it.

People who are unfamiliar with my car have enough trouble driving it as is, I certainly don't want to add another obstacle. It is nice looking, though.

I won't let people that are unfamiliar with my car drive it, only my wife & I get the pleasure. On that note though, I like the OEM knob more than any of these options so far. The silver one is nice but I would want it to be labeled correctly. :)

OK, I went ahead and ordered the Electronic Shift Switch from Japan. It was not easy, I ended up (I think) ordering 2 because I can't read Japanese, and I don't follow Japanese instructions very well. My PayPal account is being depleted, so pretty sure I have 2 on the way. Hoping the earthquake doesn't delay too much. Anyway, If and when I receive them, I may have an extra one. I will let you know at that time and give you my feed back. It sure looks cool in pictures! They tell me it will plug in, but the buttons cannot be swapped side to side (B=P). Bad news, it is $224.00 so far after shipping and deposit and middleman fees.

I;d love to get a custom made shifter knob if you have any or would like to make one. I have a black 2011 Prius III just bought and hate the shifter knob. Im used to driving a manual and like holding the stick while driving, but this shifter knob is so akward.

I too was looking for an alternative to the stock shifter in my prius. I wanted something low profile. I came across this old B&M shift knob I had from back when I had my old ford pickup and figured I would give it a shot. I think it looks pretty good, other than its a bit beat up. Easier than i figured to install. I was able to tap an m6 nut into the opening and just screw it right on.

I'm in the same boat... too many years to driving manual transmissions to give up the habit. So, I've been working on trying to make the attached work... Blocks the view of the EV and ECO buttons though.

I went with the Stage 10 ESS in carbon fiber and blue illumination. Way better access to buttons and a pretty significant cool factor. It took me a couple of weeks to really get used to it but now pushing the buttons is just as instinctive as moving the original shift lever around.

Do they have a voice activated shifter yet?
