Actually at this point I challenge any car mfr to come up with a 7 pass hybrid to be sold in the US because it's obvious Toyota does not think we need such a vehicle here.

Love Red Green. He's way ahead of his time!! And it's pretty scary how close his project is to the OP's.

Toyota already has it - Highlander hybrid.

7 passenger hybrid that gets near 40 MPG combined and fits Americans? oooooh that's a tough one!

I would hate to see Toyota put out the Prius v as a 7 passenger, then you have to have legs off a pool table or your knees hit the seatbacks or dash like a 2nd gen Prius.

    Mazda5 is a 6 seater though -

We were actually probably a bit too hard on the OP'er, he didn't actually suggest a 2nd engine ala Red Green, I got there from others suggesting a mash-up of 2 cars. What better mash-up than this.

The OP'er may have really been a newbie (this is the newbie forum), who doesn't realize the Prius isn't simply a regular car with a few extra parts bolted on. If he hasn't been back, he may be too embarrassed by now, so I'll just say sorry for all the abuse, but this is not nearly as easy as you thought. You can't simply take off the hybrid parts and drive it as a regular car.
