Cesium detected indicating nuclear fuel's still burning,
That cloud is radioactive , looks like the building literally went up in smokes, with some steam
is it still billowing out ?

The news is still saying possibly 4 "hurt" in the plant explosion, and "one of the walls might have collapsed." This is 3 hours after what everyone else sees in the video as a massive steam explosion that probably destroyed all possible containment. The reporters have way of understatement - or probably huge ignorance of facts about nuclear power plants. This is going to be Chernobyl again or worse. Holy frick'in crap!

Those radiation levels in the graphic you attached seem a lot higher than I'd expect. They're quoting levels of a whooping 750 Rad on the west coast USA whereas news reports are quoting exposure to workers at the actual plant as only 1000 micro-Sieverts (which is approx equiv to just 0.1 Rads). Something just doesn't look right there.

EDIT. Ok I think I've figured it out. One was quoting exposure per hour and I'll bet the other is quoting exposure per year. That introduces a multiplying factor of 8766!

I guess it's always going to be a problem when reporters are quoting numbers and they don't really understand what those numbers mean. Per hour versus per year really makes quite a big difference, so it's not really a good idea to leave that information out. :)

And of course those "per year" are not really relevant as (hopefully) the fallout wouldn't hang around for anything near a whole year. After reviewing this I'm pretty sure those numbers are a bit alarmist.

JP government spokesman announced it was hydrogen explosion made from leaked steam.
The explosion occurred out of the reactor container within the building.
The reactor container itself has no damage, and the radiation level is not increased since then.

Keep in touch for further announcement.

The chart is attributed to the Australian BC.

The surrounding support infrastructure is gone, they are pumping seawater with boric acid to decommission the reactor.

At 11:01 JST (02:01 UTC), there was an explosion at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station Unit 3.
The building walls are gone as same as the Unit 1.

They HAVE to remove the heat... the sea water is a part of the catastrophic shutdown plan... that is why they built it there.

Ken... you're a good kinda guy... please don't take offense when we don't swallow the Japanese govt pablum... if you've ever been there :D, you know how the govt actually works the information, and how they spin the truth while they try to get ahold of a problem.

And this deal happening with a nuke plant, IS A PROBLEM THAT WILL PANIC A JAPANESE FASTER THAN ANYTHING I CAN THINK ABOUT.

I ain't Japanese... but my second ex-wife was born in Tokyo... and I've been there more than a couple of times myself... so I think I have some clue.

I do NOT trust the Japanese govt official news releases. I will the INRA... even though we are on that group too.

I believe these accidents might be expanded not only in Japan, but also whole of our glove.

I believe uncertain guess posting will cause panic on everyone in the world.

If I see any uncertain guess posting further, I'll leave from this thread.

I believe following wiki site is one of up-to-date and stable information supplier.
    [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fukushima_I_nuclear_accident"]Fukushima I nuclear accidents - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]

    "Explosion of reactor building
At 11:15 JST on 14 March 2011, a building surrounding Reactor 3 of Fukushima 1 exploded as well, presumably due to the ignition of built up hydrogen gas. There is no health risk reported, though 600 people have been ordered to stay indoors. Within minutes, it was reported that as with reactor 1, the outer reactor building was blown apart, but the inner containment vessel was not breached. TEPCO stated that one worker was injured and seven missing.

    Hi again,

I believe everyone welcome a certain insider information.

I don't believe everyone welcome uncertain outsider information, guess or rumor.

Sorry! I meant to say the building of reactor #3. [IMG]:embarassed: I meant the videos as a followup to post 88.

If I was wrong w/my wording (by leaving out a word) or totally wrong on the content of the videos, I stand corrected.
