Just traded in the Element for a Prius III. Sacrificed space and the gas hog for comfort and quiet driving. Not only will I be saving in gas but also trips to the flea market by the better half as the shopping load will be cut in half.....muahaha.

I've also rectified one of my biggest pet peeves with the Element in that I know have a sunroof over the front 2 seats rather than over the cargo area.

The Element is a very interesting looking car, but the Prius offers great MPGs, technology and low-emissions. Don't be too sure your flea market purchases will be cut in half. The Prius offers great cargo capacity. Now you can afford to make two and three trips to the market.

Don't let her see how much room is in the Prius if you fold down the rear seats!

You didn't sacrifice much space. The Element has 103 ft^3 of passenger volume and 25 ft^3 of cargo volume. With the Prius it is 94/22. As for weight, they both are rated for about the same load.

People often underestimate the interior size of a Prius.
