I ran across this thread on another toyota forum and thought I'd share the link.

HOW TO: Tundra USB/Stereo input on Tacoma aftermarket head unit - Tacoma World Forums

Toyota Prius Part # for this is 86190-0E030
Toyota Tundra Part # for this 86190-0C020. The Tundra Part will fit in the Prius and is cheaper than the Prius part # (Only verified in slot opening next to cigarette lighter under the console)

Is it to use a usb stick and connect it to an aux radio input? They didn't explain that part in detail. If so can a mini-version be used in the console connection of the Prius? (I may be doing too much wishful thinking here)

Boy,
I'd like to see where that's connected, I've got more darned wires running through velcro loops fro my SCANGAUGE and GPS. If I could hook that USB connector in one of the vacant plugs by the Dash dimmer (and Fog Light addition) it would be so much simpler and neater.

No. You'd use it to connect to connect to a stereo that already has a usb port. You plug the usb cable from the stereo into this and then use this to connect your devices to the stereo. It's just a way to get a more finished look.

Actually, my GPS and my cellphone can be charged from a usb port, that would be my interest. I can hook my mp3 in the console for both power and connecting to the stereo.

I don't know enough about this mod to know whether it's getting power from something other than the stereo in this case. But for power alone there is this

I was told that the Toyota Prius Part # for this is 86190-0E030 which is has a retail price of $124, ouch. Cheapest I've found it for is ~$97.

I still wonder whether the toyota tundra USB/Aux port would fit in the prius. When I look at the Toyota Tundra pictures for it's USB/AUX port at

How To: Install a USB Charger/Connection Port in a Factory Blank - Page 3 - Tacoma World Forums

it seems like it would fit but I don't want to spend $63 to find out.

Nice find. I need to combine usb with video for my Sony deck so that doesn't meet my original need.

I went ahead and ordered the Toyota Tundra USB since I managed to see one and it looks like it will fit. The part arrived today so I'll be attempting this mod soon.

Where will you install this? Inside the armrest console, in place of the aux audio input?

Under the console next to the cigarette lighter. It's to clean up the lose wires I have now from my Sony XNV-770BT install. See photos in http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...ony-xnv-770bt-installation-2.html#post1274922

The aux port is currently wired into my aftermarket HU via the Metra 70-8114 - SWC Harness w/RCA so I don't want to lose it. Trying to rework all those wires is too much work.

I just wanted to confirm that the Toyota Tundra USB/Stereo port part number 86190-0C020 will fit in the Prius switch ports.

I've connected the video of my Sony to the aux port on this. Waiting on a Male To Male USB cable to arrive in the mail so I can finish the modification.

My Kenwood DNX 9960 is provisioned for A/V, USB and Apple devices. These ports are extended with 2 ea. generic 3.5 cords and 2 ea. http://www.datapro.net/products/usb-panel-mount-b-to-a-cable.html 3' cables. The AUX port location in center console seemed open to beverage spills and under Bridge area is used as the daily stuff tray. I chose this option as an alternative. http://priuschat.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=28813&stc=1&d=1300029910 Forward USB plays music and/or movies off thumb drives or external HDs. Side 3.5's are A/V and side USB, used with the 3.5's, for iPads, iPones, ect...via http://www.kenwoodusa.com/Car_Entertainment/eXcelon/Accessories/KCA-iP301V. Parking Brake wire from HU is grounded so that devices can be played, Nav positions entered and built in DVD player can be used while driving (by the right seat passenger for you Lawyers ). Upper glove box can be closed while in use with devices inside.

We have a 2011 Pkg # 3 we'd like to add a USB port to, just to power the iPod for long trips. Can't wait to hear how this fits, looks - and works!:)

Did you have to remove the entire "box" to mount the jack? The panel surrounding the jacks looks like it might pop off but I don't see any screws or clips.

I found the answer. The panel surrounding the lighter socket and blank plate can be removed. Either fingers or a small pry bar, screwdriver.

I wound up removing the the port, putting the blank back and installing (having the shop which installed the unit) move it to the console replacing the aux input.

Audiovox has a cable which includes a "toyota fit" port which fits in a standard Toyota dash opening. The cable is (just) long enough to install in the console box.

It's being included with some of the newer units and can be ordered ($35) . Current Prius units come with the generic media link module which is generally mounted in the glove box.

Fantastic USB install. How did you make the cut outs in the upper glove box panel? What tool did you use?
