My new LED front turn signals just showed up today. Going to go install them after this and will have more pics of them afterwards. Plan on doing the Webelectrics DRL kit with these and run them as my DRL's. Think it will look good and add a little bit of a safety factor. Anybody know where there is a switched on 12V source from the ignition near the front signals? That's all I'll really need to install it. Need to order that today now that they're here. I just happened to order these from Japan 2 days before the earthquake. They got here quite fast I must admit. Feel so sorry for the people over there. Really tough to see.

And here you go. Less than 15 minutes later and they're in. Look good I must say. Super easy install. Made me realize just how beat up the fog light surrounds are now though from all the road debris. Time to hit up the dealer I guess and see how much new ones will be. I think I'm going to need to follow in Rodney's footsteps and start my own project thread. So much has been done so far and it's all scattered about in different threads. Still so much to do.

I see those don't have the white LEDs for DRLs. So those must have been more reasonable... how much?

No, but Web Electrics (WebElectric Products - Sequential Turn Signals, Sequential Taillights, Sequential Tail Lights, Dynamite Stick Sequential, Pulsing Brake Light Pulser Flasher, One Touch Convertible Top, Dynamite Stick, One Touch Turn Signals, Daytime Running Lights, L) makes a kit for the Gen. II Prius which is essentially the same they said, just won't be full plug and play because of needing a 12V switched source. Shouldn't be too hard and for $40 for the kit you can't go wrong. Will let you know how it works out once I have it installed. Will try and do a tutorial if I have time.

Ya these are the same one's that Rodney installed on his car. Not the one's Alvin (bino) has. Alvin's are a totally flat lens and has the L-shaped white lights for DRL's and then the inside ones are the amber turn signal. I wasn't as impressed with them as much in person as with Rodney's car. Besides I'm fine with having the yellow like other Toyota's for the DRL's. Although, I just ordered the Web Electrics kit and remembered I ordered LED light strips to do DRL's. Well I guess in case they don't work out I'll have a back up plan. All in all total with shipping they were $149. Not too bad I think.

These are about $100 cheaper from what I just saw compared to the ones with the white LED's for DRL's as well.

I take it there was no need to replace the relay, and that the needed equipment was built in? Kind of a dumb question, but would definitely make a difference.

I like the LED signals, but not enough to pay that much for them. Maybe if they were about half that cost :)

No need for any changes. Direct plug in and they are polarized so they only work one way plugged in. Kind of have to figure on the exchange rate and shipping it all kind of adds up. The factory ones are about $40 each so really it's not that much more for both anyways.

Could you kindly provide a web link as to the source for these lights? Thank you.

Here is one link that seems to still be working. Their website for shopping can be a little confusing. I would suggest downloading Google Chrome for your web browser and then downloading the extension for Google Translate. It's the best way to view their site even though they say they have an English version. Some places require a broker and will not ship direct from Japan. I believe the site will tell you once you start searching for something that they will not ship direct. Took me about an hour of just looking around to figure it out enough to feel comfortable with ordering through them. This site is like ebay without the auctions. Have a ton of other sellers listed all through one site. Just beware, you'll see alot of stuff you're going to want. I know I do! LOL! This place that I ordered from was in the very far south part of Japan so hopefully they are still shipping and operating ok. Good luck.

Nice! How is the blink rate is it normal or is it faster as is the case with a lot of LED turn signal bulb replacements? Are these now set up as DRL in amber and flash briter as they blink? Can you post a small clip with turn signals or hazards flashing?
    TIA

Blink rate is the same as stock. I can only assume it has a resistor inline to slow it down. As for the DRL feature, these lights don't normally light up. Strictly just a turn signal and hazzards so the controller I'm getting from Web Electrics keeps them on full time and allows for it to turn off and blink when the signals are activated. They emailed me and said they shipped yesterday so hopefully will have them installed next week. I acted too quickly not thinking because I had ordered LED light strips like Rodney's (HAWAIIANBUILT), only difference is I got some I think are bigger diodes and should be brighter. I just don't know if they will fit. One way or the other I should have some sort of DRL installed by next week. I will post up a short video probably by tomorrow if I have time of the current setup.

If that ever happens (hopefully it won't), I would definitely look for the LED signals like this. But as far as a cosmetic mod, a little higher than I want to spend for this particular item at this point.

If I didn't have issues with my pellet stove lining installation from 2 yrs ago that needs fixed, I'd think about doing this with the left over tax return funds.

It definitely looks very nice and I like the look better than the regular bulb look. I think in another year or two, accessory prices for the G3 will really start to come down some.

I've never posted a video here so don't get mad at me if it doesn't work right away. It's just a quick video of the flash rate that 2011V was asking for. Hope the link works. Sorry about it being sideways. Didn't have my video editor installed on this computer to fix it.

Looks good, but they don't look at bright in the daylight (from the vid, compared to a halogen bulb). Since it's hard for us to determine that from the video, can you provide us with some insight on how bright they are?

I've tried 64-SMD LED bulbs in my factory front turn signal housings and they were very bright at night, more so than the halogens. But in the daylights, the light really bleeds out and it actually wasn't as bright as the halogen bulbs. Go figure.

A couple factors play into that. LED's are much more directional so you nearly have to be straight on to see their full brightness. Up close as I was and not being at the right angle they don't reflect off the housings as well as a standard bulb would. Now, if you take into consideration that being across an intersection with your signals on being further away you have a better chance at being at the right viewing angle. They are plenty bright and I had the same thoughts when I first saw them on Rodney's car. Don't know if you had seen but I installed a DRL kit with these as well a few days later. They look really good and I really am very happy with them. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have anymore questions.
