Can anyone explain to me how a humanitarian disaster is an partisan issue?

    Just as a few individuals that lack balance seem to see everything as sex, money, power, etc, Rush seems to make non-political issues political. {sigh}

If Rush is such a limited government guy, why is every topic in his mind political?

FYI: I am conservative and resent how he twists and defames it.

You will have to ask those who brought up House or GOP investigations and somehow managed to involve Republicans in the discussion.

He has to cater to his audience, which isn't very bright, so he turns everything into a political issue to rile up his non-bright audience, which keeps his ratings high and his pocketbook full.

What are we saying about the President? Do you like the way he dresses? That's not politics. Do you think he is a good father? That's not politics either.

What about the economy? Politics influences the economy. The economy influences politics. The two interact, but that does not make one the same as the other.

If you want to cast a big net, we can say that everything is political. We can say the same about sex. While true, it's not a very useful definition. We generally use a tighter definition, where a comment is political if politics is the central topic. Most people can tell the difference.

Tom, are you saying sex is political? I suppose you're right since Clinton did have sex in the oval office. Or so some political pundits say.

..and a major plank of the Bush platform was that he would not have sex in the Oval Office.

Of course sex is political. If it weren't for sex, politics would be about economics and foreign policy, rather than about who could marry whom, or what health care facilities get funding and why.

Imagine how political sex would be if royalty was constitutional in the US.

    Opps - never mind.

Can you honestly tell me this thread isn't political now? The majority of posters on this thread have posted the political side of this issue or based judgments about the man on his passed political rhetoric. If it isn't then nothing is political by your standard.

    Example. http://priuschat.com/forums/freds-h...policy-not-obamas-hypocrites.html#post1289371

It may not be constitutional, but we get royally screwed in this country.

I honestly haven't noticed any new comments about Rush, political or otherwise. Up until yours, that is, which was remarkably appropriate: "...passed political rhetoric" It must be like gas.

It seems like you are defending Rush's tasteless ridicule of refugees, or awfully close.

He gets to make an inappropriate remark about human suffering, and it's not OK to ask if he has any sense of decency like in the days when Sen. Joe McCarthy got out of line? It's sad that this nation has strayed away from civility enough this has become acceptable behavior.

This is not the first time he's uttered drivel like this....also said nonsense like only "goddless, gay socialists" drive a Prius...with me Rush just struck out no matter how hard he and his dittoheads wish I were all of the above. This is demogogic - is that good for the nation?

There was the time Rush had to quit being a commentator on Monday Night Football after suggesting Donovan McNabb was starting simply because he's African-American...now who is compulsively political?

Do you think Reagan would ever have been elected if he behaved like this? He distanced himself from the Limbaughs of the day, so the only idiotic ideologues back then were Democrats telling us he would start a nuclear holocaust. ;)

I'm sorry you seem to think condemning Limbaugh's remarks somehow supports liberals.

Thought this thread might die naturally. :(

You didn't read my first reply to this thread which was supported by others on this board of a different political persuasion and without malice I believe you're putting words in my mouth I did not say or misrepresenting what I have said.

P.S. Sorry it took me longer to compose my 'Example.' in my prior post, you might want to go back and check it.

Sorry I didn't realize there was a time limit on political rhetoric wherein it's nature changes, as it seems here, into sexual innuendo. :p

I don't forget all the drivel against George W Bush....read some of it hear over a couple of years ago....some of that was also over the top.

Pretending I'm posting immediately after the 1st post on this thread, Rush's remark is one of a long line of unacceptable remarks that in an earlier era would have mortally wounded his network. I'd say the same if it was Michael Moore.

I hope you are not going to have a problem with that.

I agree 100%, if by "over the top" you mean "far too nice for him".

I would attribute this in part to "you better walk your talk".

Rush ripped Shaq for his drug use, so his glass house was open game when the public found out about his OxyContin problem. Kind of like Jimmy Swaggart outing preachers for sex out of marriage then it turns out he was caught patronizing hookers.

Anyone caught doing something they condemned is going to get hammered.

I really don't have any problem with Rush. He is an entertainer, and he does that well. He has a huge audience, which in and of itself is evidence of his skills. He knows what sells, and he sells it well.

Where I do have a problem is with people taking him seriously. It would be like believing Stephen Colbert. They both have their own political views, but their views don't get in the way of entertaining an audience.
