The results of my end-of-month car wash. This time I finally had a camera on hand to capture my work. Honestly, my poor photography skills don't quite do it justice, but I just wanted to share.

washed w/ meguiar's gold class shampoo
dried w/ viking microfiber waffle weave towel
detailed w/ meguiar's quik detailer + walmart mf towels
waxed w/ meguiar's quik wax + walmart mf towels

Here are a couple of extra shots from indoors that might better showcase the wax.

I've been told that I could/should clean the tires. Strangely I've never considered it, just the rims. Anybody have any product recommendations for cleaning tires?

Awesome job, mac. It looks great. The best stuff I've found for keeping tires looking good is 303. (For obvious reasons, don't use it on the tread.) It works well on plastic, too, both inside and out, restoring the original black than tends to fade in the sun. It has UV protectants.

Macmaster, nice! I'll have to try to get mine shiny like that now that there's hopefully no more snow.

You have just the windows to the back seat tinted? Without even knowing you it just fits your personality so right haha

Chrome? We don't need no stinkin' chrome! ;)

Thanks for the suggestion. Yeah my tires definitely need dressing up. I can't believe I neglected it for so long. In fact I'm a little embarrassed to have posted all these pictures now without detailing the tires. Oops!

Yesiree, it's illegal here, and I don't mess around! Know what ah' mean?

    What? You didn't "Clay Bar"?!!!

How dare you even call it "Waxed"!

    Just kidding....

If you don't now worry about your tires, I'm assuming you want less effort, not more effort. So recommendations for quick and easy good looking tires would be to experimenting with any of the countless aerosol spray tire shine sprays.

Some leave your tires shinier, some flater and black...you'll have to just read labels and experiment.

My experience is they are easy to use, quick, leave your tires looking good, but most don't last too long. Gels last longer but are harder to apply...and messier...

From an enviromental P.O.V. often when I spray my tires I can look up and actually witness a hole in the ozone layer opening up simultaneously with my spraying...but come on? I like shiny tires....it's worth it...

I waxed mine a couple weekends ago. It stayed looking saweeeeeet for about 3 days until it rained lol. I must say, it is always nice to look back at a nice clean and shiny car. I'm still finding a few spots I didn't get the wax off because I didn't see it as I went along. Oh well, maybe the next warm weekend I will go back and really give it a rubdown with a clean MF towel.

If you have the energy a real good stiff brushing when you wash them will make a difference. It brings out the imbedded chemicals in the tires and doesn't "cost " anything EXCEPT ELBOW GREASE.

ps It might take a couple of scrubbings to get rid of accumulated old sidewall rubber.

I picked up some Eagle One Wet Tire Shine. It was $4. I have no idea how good it is or what's the best way to apply it. I have a feeling I'm going to murder some towels. :(

I wouldn't use towels on tires - on the wheels, yes, but not the rubber. Get a soft/medium bristled brush and run it over them a few times. And a good, strong, stream of water. I've found that works pretty well. I actually didn't even use the "tire shine" stuff the last time. As long as they're clean, they look good to me!

I don't understand how you can keep your car so shiney, and your garage so dirty :D

Ok finished. I scrubbed my tires with dawn/water to de-grease them and hosed them down. After they dried I applied the Eagle One spray. I started by spraying on a sponge and wiping the sponge on my tire, but it wasn't really effective and I realized half of the product was staying on the sponge. I sprayed it directly onto the tire instead and worked it in, rubbing with my sponge. Did about 2 or 3 layers (dont know if that was necessary) while continuing to rub it in and spread it evenly. I must say my tires look good, better than I ever remember.

I don't know what the deal with slinging is. I drove a little only 30 minutes after I applied the dressing, but saw no tire sling afterwards. I didn't think I'd get it either - even if it was still wet, I worked it in pretty good with the sponge. So how does tire sling happen? People just spray the stuff and don't even bother to wipe it? Hmm.

Anyways, after work tomorrow, maybe I'll take some more pictures. Thanks a lot guys. :)
