regenerative braking

    When you press on the brake pedal, how far down do you have to go before it starts to incorporate the friction brake?

    It depends on a number of factors including your speed and the amount of current that the battery is able to accept (at the time), but it's not a hard or sudden cut-off point either. There is actually a gradual transition from full regenerative braking to partial friction braking to mostly friction braking depending on how hard you push the pedal.

    I noticed that. I was just thinking how I could be more judicious with my braking style if I could use regenerative braking the majority of the time.

    Do you have a ScanGauge or something to monitor the amount of current going into or out of the HV pack? I monitor that value (BTA on many tables) w/my SG.

    I used to think I was braking very lightly, until I got my SG.

    That's been my assumption, though I haven't tracked BPS on my CAN-View closely enough or often enough to try to verify. With braking as the least efficient method of slowing (versus gliding or regenerative coasting), I try to avoid it whenever possible and instead focus on parameters such as RPM, BTA, INJ, IGN, and ETF, among others.
