Drivers Seat Clicking

My 2010 Prius V is stating to do this as well. Did you find a solution for your problem? Thanks AJ.

 

My II does this also i think it has something to do with the back of the seat and the tracks the whole seats sit on, I'm out of warranty so i can't have them fix it. Mine has done it for 30,000 miles and has not got any worse.

 

My drivers seat also clicks. Not sure where the click is, but it will happen when I press the brake to stop and press the accelerator to move from a stop. It is annoying and I can't locate it.

Although I have a II and none of those amps under the front seats, I did notice each had very loose heater vent under there! I never noticed them before, but put some foam rubber around them to insure they couldn't move or shake. I did the same for the plastic covers for the rear mounting bolts. If for no other reason than peace of mind, it should not be a source for a tick or rattle.

Another member here had discovered the front adjustment handle could rattle. (For cars without power seats).

 

Mine is the seat making the clunk/tick noise. i have no options so your problem is different from mine.

 

I have exactly the same noise. I even took the seat completely out of the car and retied all the cables and wires. I cut the seat locater pins off IAW the TSB and searched for anything else that could cause the noise including all the mechanical adjustment parts. No luck.

I am convinced it is coming from inside the seat. I didn't try to take the seat apart because of the air bag.

 

I just figuired it was just a little bit of slop in the tracks that only shows up when it wants top.

 

I think I have finally stumbled on to the cure for the inside the seat clicking. When my cars get to be about two years old, the seat bottom and back cushions tend to get depressions and uncomfortable so I insert pieces of high density upholstery foam rubber between the springs and seat bottom and lumbar mechanism and back to make them comfortable again. When I did this to the Prius drivers seat last week, the clicking noise magically disappeared.

You have to remove the seat from the car, but that is not difficult. Once the electrical connectors are disconnected under the seat, there is no danger from the side air bag in the seat back. I used high density, upholstery type, one inch foam rubber pads. The seat bottom piece was 12" X 13" which I placed between the springs and seat bottom. The seat back piece was 8" X 12" which I place between the upper part of the lumbar mechanism and the upper part of the seat about where my shoulder blades hit. I initially put foam in the lower part of the seat back but removed it because it was too much in that area for me. It helps to unhook the seat bottom cover. The seat back cover has "hog rings" in three locations at the bottom edge that have to be removed and two zippers that then allow access inside the seat back.

My seat is now comfortable again and quiet. Sometimes unintended consequences are good.
