Will these fit?

    will they fit without modification? will it change my mph readout? i know it will alter my mpg by maybe 10% but thats ok...they look awesome.

    my prius is silver...i think these would look good but I am having a hard time avoiding the black finished wheels...

    You might inquire about the weight of each rim. That may impact your FE more than you want.

    I suspect they will.

    But you would need to know the offset. Toyota parts department may be able to tell you the offset of your wheels and the Scion 18s.

    If the offset is the same you need to consider the tire clearance which will depend on what size tires you plan on using. MPH readout will depend on tire size also. If you do the swap you can always check the speedometer against a portable GPS to find the error at different speeds.

    They look great, but the listing shows a 5X4.5" (about 114mm) bolt pattern, whereas the Prius, I thought, is 5X100mm (about 4").

    I can't see how it could work (at least without some type of adapter).

    Or am I wrong about the respective bolt patterns?:(

    Or is the eBay listing wrong?

    You'll need adapters. As Danvee stated, the bolt pattern on the Prius is 5x100. Toyota/Scion changed the 2011 tC bolt pattern to 5x114.3.

    so the consensus is to much work? i would like to find a nice set that I can just put on...18'' with iddy biddy tires...

    Mannnn, tire weight isn't even that important compared to getting good low rolling resistance tires. But yes. To get it to work you'll need to convert it and that's not easy.

    Also that listing is too expensive anyway. Scion rims are a dime a dozen because of the frequency their owners swap rims, and in a couple years these will be easily found too.

    Well, i dont really want to mess with lowering the car, but I would like to get some wheels to make it look nicer...

    Im assuming its hard to find lrr tires in a 18x7.5'', is this right?

    is there any wheels you guys would recommend? I dont mind cheap as long as they look good and arent going to kill my mpg.

    Im sitting at 57mpg right now, over 2k logged with this reading.

    yeah, i have looked there...actually bought my last set of hankooks from them(for my recently passed subaru xt)

    it seems they will only go up to 17'', which is probably enough...but I intend to look for a set of 18'' that will fit first.

    go big or go home right?:rockon:

    Oh man, that's such a loaded question. I recommend looking at a lot of pictures of cars and start developing your taste.

    Also, if you have the dough, never do any off-roading, and never deal with snow, I recommend you seriously consider lowering your car if you upsize.

    ok, any threads you would recommend to look at for lowering ideas and methods?

    I am thinking I want to find a set of used 18'', I dont want to pay 175$/wheel. I just bought the car a couple weeks ago and the only thing at this point that I want to do to it is wheels and fog lights...

    Thats right. You iz a playa.

    Thats one thing I like about the Gen III - it's body shape confers a good look with 18" rims than the Gen II. A Gen II on 18s looks way unbalanced - no offense to any playas here.

    I don't know how much of this you already know, but I'll start from the beginning:

    There are 2 methods to lowering: Lowering springs or coilovers. Lowering springs usually cost ~$200 + install and don't lower the car more than 1.5". Although this is considered pretty low, the average person will not be able to notice that you're lowered - just us Prius enthusiasts. If extreme style is what you're after, it might not be enough. It will, however, give your car a balanced look and make any rims look better.

    Coilovers are adjustable in height so you can go as low as you want. They're the complete shocks itself (rather than just a spring0 and typically more expensive at $800+. The hardcore Japanese kidz get coils. They don't mess aroun'. The nice thing is, the install cost of coils is the same as lowering springs because the process is the same; In either, you have to completely take apart the strut. You won't believe how many people install springs and then 1 year later, say they want to go even lower with coils. Should've done it right the first time....

    As far as specific products or threads on this subject, I don't know what's out there since I don't ever do much research on the Gen III. But I would start by googling for Prius gen III coilovers or Prius gen III lowering springs to find out what products are available.

    I can sense the mod bug is starting to hit you. :D

    Its bad...worse than when I had my subaru.

    I think I will just get the springs if I end up doing all of this...With the springs do you think a 17'' wheel will look good? Or should I keep searching for the illustrious 18'' wheel?

    I dont want to do anything else to the car. It came with leather, even though its a IIIpkg, and I happen to really like the way the standard JBL unit sits in the car. The tint is a little light, but it will do for now.

    its just the wheels, and lowering it+getting rid of the 15''s would make me feel like the car is soo awesome...

    I dont have the money to do this all at once, but I do want too...haha.

    here goes the money im saving in gas...

    Well I've been told that it's best to lower the car first. That way you'll know what fits when you size your new wheel/tires. Chances are you won't have a problem with fitment anyway, but it makes more sense this way.

    Most rims come in different sizes like 17" and 18" so don't worry about the size for now. Just find a spoke pattern and color, a rim, that you LOVE. Just keep looking at pictures of peoples' cars here in the Modification forums. I also like to browse the Lexus forums for great ideas. If it helps, close your eyes and imagine what you want your car to look like. Unless you have loads of cash and can swap new rims every 6 months (people do), you want to get it right the first time. So have patience and take your time. It could take a while.

    Hey, think of it this way, it's better that your money be going to these aftermarket car companies rather than the oil companies, right?

    ok...well I will work on lowering it first then! do you see any increase in mpg by lowering it? probably not right? idk...

    haha...yeah. thats a bit of encouragement! do you think the tanabe df's are the way to go for me?

    No unfortunately no mileage increase. In fact at times my mileage is worse because I tend to be more aggressive now that my car is lowered. LOL.
