    I bought my Prius used (big mistake) and thought I saw something where there was a DVD that came when new. Is this true and if so, is it worth picking up?

    It's a kind of intro for the features of the car. You're not missing much, but your local Toyota dealer might have one laying around that you could view.

    Or the Toyota Owner's Connection site, all the same videos are on-line. I certainly wouln't pay for it if the dealership isn't willing to hand one over...

    IMO, buying a one or two year old Prius (used) is the best value available. The bulk of depreciation is paid by someone else. Congrats on a smart decision to buy a used Prius.

    Enjoy the high MPGs, technology and low-emissions.

    Thanks for the replys. In hindsite I wish I would have just got a new one. After I got this one home, I found over $800 of body damage to the passenger side rocker panel molding. The dealer refused any help. I am very impressed with the gas milage - not so much with the rattles. I looked at all the videos on the Toyota site, so if that is all it is, no big deal.

    The damage was not disclosed to me. In fact, it was certified, but to get the price down, they removed the certification. I went as far as I could at the dealer and then filed a claim with Toyota. It ended up that they refused to do anything saying that I must have done the damage myself. Toyota did nothing. I am still looking for a used rock panel molding, but have not found one yet. Needless to say, I will never do business with that place again.

    Yeah, the dvd isn't anything special. Nothing you cannot gain from viewing the youtube videos or simply reading your manual or better yet, playing around with the car and learning stuff first hand.

    I just didn't check it over close enough. Since it was to be sold as certified, I let my guard down a bit. You have to look underneath the rocker panel molding and inside the rear wheelwell to see where it had been torn apart. The whole inside mounting bracket is missing. Someone had to go in there and at least remove the mounting bolts. I have never been scr$wed like this by a dealer before. Not something I would expect from a new car dealership.

    A car is still allowed to be certified even if it's in a accident. Since the car is used, many states do not have any law in regards to having to tell you the car has been in a accident. These cars are usually always marked SOLD AS IS.

    It had a clean Carfax, but I don't put too much stock in that. I think used cars are always sold as is. The whole deal is water under the bridge now. One of those life lessons, I guess.
