check with diane, wouldn't surprise me. in fact, i wouldn't be surprised if some time in the near future, they run out of them until they can get everything back on line in japan. and with the meltdown continuing, and more earthquakes. who knows when that will be?

Clearly a case of you snooze you lose! Sorry, couldn't help it. It doesn't surprise me either, low supply + high demand = GOUGE!

    <- still shaking head.

    And, politely rolling my eyes.

The Prius lease hasn't been 199 in quite a few months.

Yep- I was going to buy one a few months back- much cheaper pre earthquake and it was 2010 late in the year. Sadly can't get those sort of deals anymore. I didn't NEED the car then- I waited- and I now NEED a car. Which is why I am now considering a Ford Focus. Either that or I'll have to suck it up and pay much more than I was going to a few months back.

Ha- well, we'll see after I test drive the focus. For the same price as the most basic Prius- The Focus comes fully loaded with every tech gadget you could ever want. 8" screen, back up cam, climate control, GPS, bluetooth- the list goes on and on. And at 40MPG it's a pretty damn good deal.

I know this is a month old, but it does NOT get 40mpg. It gets 35mpg on the highway at constant speed going slower than most people go. Drive it intown and you get 25mpg at best. That is much lower.

It is annoying when people compare cars based on highway mileage. Last I checked most people did not live on onramps to interstates. 30mpg is reasonable from a focus. Compare that to a reasonable 48mpg in a Prius. Not to mention reliability and maintenance costs...
