2010 Chevrolet Volt MPV5 Concept Unveiled At Beijing, Production Future A Possibility | The Motor Report: Auto News And Reviews

UPDATE: MotorTrend has actual photos. Recently unveiled at Beijing Autoshow....

"GM claims the Volt MPV5 will travel 32 miles on pure electric power. That's about eight miles less than the regular Volt, no doubt due to the bigger car's increased mass and aerodynamic drag," says GM. "With the 1.4-liter gas engine running, the MPV5 will reportedly go 300 miles, again slightly less than the regular Volt."

I like this MPV5 better than the Volt. I can see this being a hit with the SUV-is-better crowd, and families.

I kind of like the design.

Are there more pictures of the model?
(you were thinking it, I'm just the one who said it.)

This is a far better design! Plenty of room for five passengers, maybe seven? Cargo space looks great too. Sure, the range is less, but it's actually useful! Of course, if the initial Volt fails we will never see it.

Thanks. This isn't the first time the autosearch feature when posting a new thread has failed me. That autosearch seems to only be effective 50% of the time.

As for the chicks... They add weight to the vehicle and decrease MPG - might not be a sustainable environmental option.

So what's this one gonna cost? I actually find it hideous. It looks kind of like a kid in class was bored and decided to merge a volt with a Chevy HHR. The glass trunk is grotesque.

This is the Tahoe hybrid of the Volt world. Chevy's commitment to creating low MPG vehicles is almost mind blowing.

A 50k SUV that gets 25mpg should really make waves...

What part of dont want to pay extra for it does the Volt have anything to do with?

And besides that, vehicles shaped like bricks, toasters, shoeboxes and blocks of clay will brickwall at probably something close to 30. They will ALWAYS be gas guzzlers because by the time they get to 30 everything else will be hitting 60+.

Wait until the Cadillac Voltalade comes out or the Hummer HV2 and we will see exactly how serious GM is about improving fuel economy throughout the market.

It should not be the engineers job to make a 5,000 pound turd get 40mpg, it should be the 5,000 pound turd drivers getting over their 2.5 ton ego and driving a friggin' sensible car.

Our 2000 Ford Explorer 5l AWD got traded in for a 2010 Prius in July 2009. SUV free since 2009 baby! I do not miss the 13mpg city one bit.

Unfortunately, I still have 3 kids and my wife has a Sedona habit. Still, with an Ultragage, we can push about 19 MPG average. It's not the 70 that I typically run with my PHEV... she didn't want a "low" car.

I can't seem to get my wife let us drop our minivan for another Prius--despite ME being the one who drives the minivan with only me in it for 90% of its miles!

But seriously back to appearance, that Crossvolt looks like a concept vehicle from the 90's.
