    Hi everyone,
I have 2005 prius (UK) just a factory fitted cd player, no cd-changer, no amp, no navigation. I have read different thread about aftermarket cd installation. Sorry for my ignorance, bit confused.
I want to install cd player, for me connection is problem. Anybody please help me, how to connect cd player so that it work perfectly, I don't bother about sterring control but I need to use display for climate control and radio. If i need to buy wire harness which is good and how to connect.
    Thanks

*** Hurray I have installed JVC KD-AVX44 dvd player in my prius 2005*** with the great support of F8L...Thanks alot,

You may want to follow F8L and his install. Single DIN aftermarket radio in the small space below the factory radio. NO Nav for him either.

Or, if you can afford it, USBSEAWOLF2000 has the best install: Aftermarket Double DIN radio w/ built in NAV/DVD/Bluetooth. All of the original functionality, steering wheel controls, and MFD are maintained. He even upgraded by getting the right side steering wheel controls that comes w/ built in NAV cars, gaining: MAP, INFO, and BLUETOOTH buttons.

    Good luck.

Thanks again, i still need your help. I am bit confuse about wiring harness, getting a cd player of ISO connector and a wire harness compatible to my car is enough? or i have to buy another wire harness for speakers connection?
    thanks

F8L, USBSEAWOLF2000, and others who have changed out their head units are your best resources for correct and up-to-date information, as I have yet to change out my head unit. I can only tell you how-to, based from past personal experiences with other cars. If I recall correctly, F8L and USBSEAWOLF2000 provided a detailed write-up of their installation?

I don't know what you meant by "CD player of ISO connector?"

As for harnesses, there are companies that sell factory wiring harness adapters that allows you to plug into the factory wiring harness [12V+, Ground, Accessory (12V+ switched), illumination, 4 speakers (R/L Front, R/L Rear)], while providing wiring on the other end of the adapter so you can connect to your aftermarket head unit. I was always under the impression that these adapters were complete to make all of the necessary connections.

I've never used any of these adapters because I cut off the factory harness plug and soldered the aftermarket connections onto the cut wires. This is just my personal preference.

Like exstudent, I don't understand what you are asking.

IfYou do the installation like I did then you only need to buy the 2 harnesses. ISO is just a term that means your aftermarket stereo will bolt directly to your factory bracket.

I plan on helping a fellow PC member install his stereo very soon and I will document the process and update my original thread with more thorough instructions.

Thanks alot both of above replies. By ISO mean, here in local market or ebay seller they advertise cd/dvd player with iso connector. It is very clear from ''F8L'' reply that i need only 2 harnesses. I'll wait for F8L update on his thread. One thing i want to mention that I only want to add single din cd or dvd player with USB & Ipod inputs in storage compartment under factory radio, using factory speakers, MFD with A/C control and sterring control.
    Thanks again

Are you still having trouble with your installation? If the cost wasn't so great I would offer to talk with you on the phone to make things clearer. Let me know how I can help you so you can get that stereo installed. :)

Thansk for you reply.:):) I live in London, I don't know if its possible to talk. As for my side I have tried to open dash unit completly and checked everything myself. Now I am just waiting for your video/ audio guide to be uploaded. I have purchased a Meo DVD player (i have attached pics) this is exact 1 din. My concern is fitting under orignal radio, cable connection without cutting or slicing factory wires, MFD functionality and if possible steering control, using factory fitted speakers.
    Thanks again..

    I meant by telephone. :)
    *edit*

I hope the faceplate on the DVD player is not too big. If it is not larger than the DIN size body then you will be fine and it should bolt up perfectly. It's hard to say when you start using off-brand stuff from China. :) The wiring will be very easy, it just sounds complicated. I just did an install for a PC member and instead of using the t-taps like I did on my install I just used a larger crimp connector for the 12v power, 12v ignition, and ground. I twisted the 12v power wires (2) from each new harness together and crimped them. Then I took the 12 power wire from the new stereo and crimped it into the other side of the connector. I did the same for the 12v ignition and ground. God I need to get the video up. lol

I'm trying to help you before the video is finished because we just bought a house and I have not had time to put it together yet. I have to peel wallpaper this week.

Thanks you are very helpful, i wish i live near your house happy to help you in moving and decorating new house.:) Yes face plate is exactly 1 din i checked myslef, i hope fitting won't be a problem. But what make me scared is peelin, slicing of manufecture wiring, so there is no way otherthen the peeling or slicing, i mean with after market set of wiring just plug n play type from dvd player to car system using factory speakers?
But for my safe side i'll still wait for your guide, which you have promised...:D
