But according to Fox News, 25% of the budget goes to PBS and NPR, another 20% goes to Planned Parenthood, and 15% goes to ACORN.

Congressman Jim McDermit from Seattle suggested that every tax payer get a full receipt with their tax return, spelling out from soup to nuts. I think it a great idea. People can see, in real dollars. Where the money goes. This might serve as pretty good reality check for those that think that NPR gets billions etc.

Those that think NPR is 20% of the budget probably can't read so it wont help. Maybe rap about it with a heavy bass beat and put it as background music to a gallery of lolcatz on youtube...

I'd hate to think how much money that in itself would cost!! If you look at federal budgets from different departments, none come to sharing exact numbers. Then, with this proposal....even if there was a way to realistically average how tax revenue is distributed...you then run into the overhead of having a support staff for traditional mailers and internet based services. It personally wouldn't make me more at ease...right now I think my tax dollars go to a big nebulous that has things I'd support and a few things I wouldn't. But I know that myself, and the majority of Americans, do not have enough shares in this huge cog to effect its direction.

the receipt doesn't have to be perfect... simply getting something back from the government that gives those percentages would go a long way towards increasing awareness of how our money is spent.

Cite or is this just the delusional ravings of a disgruntled liberal, distorting the truth because he/she is mad at a media outlet that's "Fair and Balanced" thus skewing the bias his beloved but far left MSM injects into the collective? I'm thinking I hit that nail SmAcK on the head! :thumb:

p.s. dear readers of this forum obviously 60% of the Federal budget does not go to these organizations. This is just another example of FUD which the left uses to push it's agenda. For another example listen to Obama's budget speech . . .

With a deficit hole as just illustrated, to think you have ANY money for a luxury such as NPR is beyond belief. It really shows how illiterate the country has become.

Bingo, it's just the left's hatred and ignorance on full display.

Oh, and I now have a million dollar mortgage that I'm late on, $60,000 worth of credit card debt, two new car loans, and I can't borrow quickly enough from the loanshark Mr. Wong and you're asking me to give up my monthly cable bill (= defund NPR)??? Hell no, what's wrong with you? My cable bill didn't cause the deficit, why should I give it up?

You hit something on the head, all right...

Let's see... we can save a penny here and a penny there, thus saving us... let me bring up Excel... two cents!

Or we can, oh, I don't know, maybe HAVE THOSE BUSTARDS* PAY WHO CAN AFFORD IT thus giving us a few bazillion dollars thus closing that debt that allegedly worries so many people (but not enough so they actually do anything about it other than posturing).

I see, vindicating a obviously false and misleading statement with the "Johnny did it first" excuse thus raising the "two wrongs make a right" rationalization, that's so liberal.

How about we get those rich liberals Obama appointed to important government posts, Democrats like John Kerry and corporations that Obama has willingly become their lap dog, to just pay their taxes?

    Democratic Tax Cheaters

Tim Geithner, also got reimbursed on those taxes he didn't pay.
Tom Daschle, now claims he doesn't understand those tax laws he helped write.
Claire McCaskill, co-sponsor of Senate legislation that would fire federal employees if they are “seriously delinquent” in paying their own federal taxes.
John Kerry, dodged a six figure tax bill on his yacht.
G.E., Obama is Immelt's new lap dog, after making $14 billion in profits last year they got a refund from America tax payers of $3.2 billion.

STEVO, you know, you are right. Even though I'm going through bankruptcy, and am continuing to run up credit cards, there's no way I should give up my fine wine, my cable bill and whatnot. Because, I am entitled to it. It doesn't matter how reckless I've been with my finances, it doesn't matter who I've hurt, if I want to go see a movie now and them on borrowed money, I deserve it.

After all, JKF told me to "ask not what I can do for my country, but ask what perks my country can give me even though we spent 7x our income in March."

I'm entitled, damn it. Go get the money from that guy over there!

Taking an obvious joke and trying to play it like the speaker meant it at face value. That's so Republican.

Damn right the above should pay more in taxes; nobody ever said they shouldn't (except maybe themselves - and Republicans, of course).

You're right. Even though *I'M* going through bankruptcy, I'm not going to take that job that would pay $3,000,000 a year (plus full benefits) because I can save money all by not spending $100.00 on my kids' school supplies.

I didn't say anything about paying MORE how about they just pay their fair share? That's all anyone should have to do, paying more than that because of your status is just a form of class bigotry.
