Lame. I have always disliked re-badging. Like "A-spec" on a Honda/Acura model that doesn't actually exist. Debadging is equally silly. As if people don't know it's a Prius.
Even if you truly don't care that it's a Lexus badge, people will think you are posing, and you have to expect getting flack, both here and on the road.

    Slightly off-topic:
Equally lame are caliper covers. "I want Brembos but I can't afford'em." Painting them is the all-time most ghetto mod.

Equally lame: your need to tell me that I'm lame.

Carson Toyota got them sent to me. ($498 total for the front and rear, I think). I installed them last Friday. I especially wanted them for when I got my body kit and all that garb, but we can't seem to get a response from anyone at Tommy Kaira. Don't know if they are facing a setback from the tsunami and earthquake(s) or what. Been going thru all my pics and links, rounding everything back up, then I'm emailing it all to Kyoei to see if he can get an answer for me on all the specific body pieces that I want from Kaira and others (a number of things that I want will come from other manufacturers....but all in Japan). Jin, the contact at Kyoei, is (I believe) Japanese, and speaks Japanese, and (possibly) has friends and family over there, so he tends to get a better response rate from these places in Japan (as compared to when others have attempted to contact them for me). And he can read all the Japanese writing, so he can tell me what all these different webpages say. But anyway, he wanted me to send him pictures and links of all these different things, so I've been drudging thru my emails and folders trying to find them all again... Then he finds them after I email that to him.

Anyway, back to the emblems..... I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE them. I had tape rolls from my Bellezza curtains left over, so that came in handy. Once you take off our front emblem assembly (my dealership was kind enough to do that for me....), there's a hole the size of the emblem. There's a big colored oval that comes with each "L" emblem, and you order it either your bodycolor or whatever other contrasting color you desire. I got the 070 white pearl color --- the same color as my car (I like my white cars to have that all-white-from-top-to-bottom look). You take off the old stock blue background and the "T" emblem from the front emblem assembly/mount piece. You place the new colored oval on there and place that whole assembly back into the emblem spot on your front bumper. Then you put the chrome "L" on top of that. On the back emblem, you do the little credit card trick shown on another post. Amazingly simple. Couldn't believe it when it just popped right off. Then you just tape the new colored oval into the oval indentation in the car, and then the "L" sticks on over that. Putting all the little strips of the 3M tape onto the backs of the colored ovals took more time than anything. The whole process took about an hour, I guess (45 minutes of taping). It could have gone MUCH faster, but I have messed up my thumbs really badly from playing piano professionally for several years... Anyhow, I have NOT taken any pics yet...so I just ran out into the garage (nighttime, and raining....) and just snapped 2 pics crouched down right in front of the car. At least it shows you how much BETTER it looks than the funky-shaped "T" on there before... I hated that thing! lol!

My favorite emblem switch. I was following a Bentley Continental on Pacific Coast highway, came to a stoplight and noticed something strange about his trunk emblem. He had substituted a Hyundai badge for the Bentley winged badge.:D

It's not my style, but I'm glad you like the results you got, especially for the price.

I wonder what it would look like if they were Scion logos instead.

We have a Scion xB, and I stood and looked at it and the Prius side by side for a long time, but the Scion emblem was too busy, too. The "L" in pictures was just much cleaner looking and simpler. Stupid thing I realized after putting on the front emblem ---- the new body kit comes with a completely different front bumper.... There's NO chance I'd ever be able to remove this "L" emblem now. It's 3M-taped on there for life! So, I'll have to turn around and buy ANOTHER one for the new front body kit bumper! Gotta love thinking ahead...

not going to lie......the "L" does look nice.....the "T" does look corney....but in my own opinion......it is straight up stupid and looks like an act that an ameature homeless person would do.... as covered before, it is identifying your vehicle as something its not. But......high five goes to you on not giving a Fu*k and doing something like that....I will personally black out the "T" because that is my taste...but big props on you carrying this mod out and looking stupid, I mean an individual

Lot of hate on this thread. I know everyone has their opinions but calling his choice stupid and that he is a poser is a little over the line. It's what he likes and its his car. If you don't like it, move on.

Thanks. I had never heard about all this re-badging/poseuring stuff until I joined this forum. Man....Toyota people are catty! Claws, claws, and more claws! lol... I didn't like the T... It looked stupid, no matter how many eyes I closed to look at it, or what angle I looked at it from. Like stated previously...I saw pics of Aimgain and Tommy Kaira Prii with the "L" emblems on them. It was like I'd just seen an angel. I looked into making a custom emblem, but I had to buy them in multiples of 1,000. Do I look like I need 1,000 emblems for the front of my car? lol! So, Carson Toyota found these somehow and answered all my problems! THEN...claws, claws, and more claws! lol

My mother gave me a $35,000 budget to go buy another car with. I picked out 2, and she was gonna decide between them, since she was forking out the cash. I picked out the new Camaro (yellow....to die for....) since my 2nd car back in high school was an IROC-Z28. And I picked out a Prius to appeal to my tech-ish side. Needless to say, she picked the Prius because "it gets lots better gas mileage!" The way it looks is all I'm interested in. I loved the way the Camaro looks. Curvy, sexy. The Prius had several "econo car" features to it. The emblem, of course, was the biggest one since it's smack in the center of the car's front and back. Now we're impatiently working on body kit, wheels, various body spoilers, visors, etc.... So much to be done before I "settle" with this car completely... But, when I get finished, it'll give me the same feeling I get when I pass a yellow tricked out Camaro on the road.

If only the Prius had come in yellow....

Ha ha!! I have always been really close to my mother over the years, and we've carried each other thru some seriously devastating events. I pretty much gave up my entire life when we chose to move my grandmother here to care for her when she became unable to care for herself any longer. I spend my days cleaning up bathroom accidents and changing diapers and all that exciting stuff... So, the whole "being a poseur" thing was like a slap in the face. People need to think before they say hateful things like that. Where I am right now is far removed from being a poseur! Anyhow, my grandmother is my mother's mother, and we kinda had the understanding/arrangement ahead of time that my mother would provide all my finances during this time when I am caring for my grandmother 24/7. I go thru hell with my grandmother all day --- her dementia/alz's raging full tilt. So, it makes my mother happy to be able to do things like this for me in return, in hopes it provides me some sort of happiness for what I go through. Anyhow, I KNOW! I KNOW! TOO MUCH INFO!!! lol

I know you were being friendly in your comment, so no worries! Thanks!

Off-topic: I would like to find out from you about your Eibachs, though, while it has crossed my mind. I'll have forgotten about it again in another 5 minutes if I don't mention it right now. Weren't you the one who got them? Seems they only drop like 1.2" or something like that, though? I usually do 2 or 3 inch drops (well, that was on previous cars anyway).

To be honest, I'm glad you're here man. We never have a shortage of enthusiastic Prius modders who care that their car looks cool. Plus that whole grandma thing? Sh*t man....

I don't have Eibach's on my Prius (I'm dropped on H&R), but I would definitely go with Eibach's for the Gen III over any of the other springs because Eibach has the lower front. Yeah 1.2"F/0.8"R isn't much, but it looks more balanced when the front is raked. (FYI my H&R is 1.4"F/0.7"R and I think it looks very balanced - I wouldn't be able to stand knowing that my rear is sagging)

That 2-3" drop you speak of is extreme and requires coilovers. Personally, THAT'S the way to go. If I had to do it all over again, I'd dump my Prius on coils. But if springs are for you I'd check into the Eibach's ;)

Mac tries to act hard, but deep down inside, you know he's a cub... ;)

As for your mod, I think you did a great job. Personally, I wouldn't do it... but to each their own taste and you had the fortitude to follow it through. So great job!

Good luck on your TK body kit...

I like the rebadging, although I'd probably have turned the Lexus emblem upsidedown or tried to find a "spoof" make.

Let's face it; 90% of people would never even notice the Lexus badge. Of the 10% or so who would notice, most wouldn't realize it was a mod. A few would get it and chuckle (like me), and a random jerk or two would shake their fists in anger or start calling the owner names like idiot, poser, or worse.

GoldPiano, nice car & I'd laugh (with you) and give you the thumbs up if I ever saw you on the road!

Thanks! Yeah, although I thought the various emblems that came with Devil's horns (plus a multitude of other "spoof-ish" ones) would be funny, I didn't figure they'd fit in with the look I was seeking. Those headlight eyelashes I see on VW's, though.......now there's something to seriously consider...! lol! With tons of help from people in Japan (where it's reported to be common to put Lexus badges on one's Prius and other Toyota cars), I will hopefully be able to have all Toyota markings eliminated from the car and replaced with the appropriate Lexus ones. It's probably been the most difficult thing I will have done in the whole modification process I've been doing the last several months. The steering wheel/airbag emblem......we won't even go there! lol

It makes me happy that many other members have been doing the same rebadging. Toyota needs to come up with a better looking "T" than the funky looking ones that come on the cars...
