Finally, it is warm enough outside to give my car the love it deserves. Over the winter, I was limited to pressure wand washing, and not the wash mitt/double bucket technique. Surface bonded contaminant are everywhere, making my Bliz Pearl look peppered. The worse areas are the lower half of front doors, right behind the front wheels. Note: the after pic has some dots stuck onto the tape; it's not on the car anymore.
Took me 4h, because it's easy to see on white, and I'm obsessive. If I had a darker color, I would only clay until it's smooth to touch.

I followed it up with Meguiar's Deep Crystal Polish and 2 coats of NXT Tech sealant.

Mother's. I should try Meguiar's next time because I like their stuff.

^ok good to know. I've heard that Mother's is stronger clay than Meguiar's. My friend has Meg's and we tried it, it didn't do much.

Agreed on claying. I've been using Clay Magic on my cars for a long time.

Now you just need to figure out a way to remove that penny! :D

    Nice work.

If you put saran wrap or thin plastic bag over your hand then slide you hand over the surface, the micro crud you can't feel with your bare hand will feel like sand paper. I find that easier than looking and it doesn't matter what color your paint is.

Ditto about the clay. I clayed one of my vehicles probably about 15 years ago for the first time and it made me a believer. I usually clay twice a year; after summer and after winter. Follow it up with some fine hand polish and then zaino and you'll have one beautiful showroom looking car.

You can also claybar your windshield and get rid of all the micro-crud embedded in it. You need the plastic bag or plastic wrap method to tell when you have it smooth. I have found that it reduces glare, makes water bead up like it does on new glass, makes the windshield wipers more effective and the blades should last longer.

It obviously won;t remove pits, but a surprising amount of windshield problems are micro crud stuck in the glass, just like the micro crud in your paint.

Don't claybar plastic headlight lenses, it can take the coating off

Agreed about the windshield as well. Griots garage, where I get my detailing products other than zaino sealants, came out with windshield clay a little over a year ago. I don't know if it is different than the paint clay, but they made it blue (the paint clay is yellow from them). All clay pretty much does the same thing, some probably has smaller particles making it up, some larger, but honestly they all get the same job done IMO.

Griots is a good operation so I suspect there is some reason for different clay, but I use the same clay I use on paint and don't have any problems. Claying a windshield does seem to take lot longer than an equivilant amount of paint.

And once you get the windshield nice and clean with the claybar, you can apply your favorite polymer. I use RejeX. It minimizes bug splats, causes water to run off easily, and makes subsequent cleaning easier.

How do you deep clean the headlight lenses without disrupting the coating?

Stream, have you used rain x and if so are you happier with using the rejex instead? Or do you use the rejex for simplicity to not have an extra product laying around the garage?

You can Zaino it as well.

I'd avoid the front side windows if you have the IV or V with water-repellant windows when it comes to claybaring or using any kind of abrasive.

I don't use anything more than mild car wash and water.

If they are hazed or otherwise screwed up, then they need some serious work that will remove the coating.

Never tried RainX. I have a bottle of RejeX that's so old I can't remember when I bought it (never used it for paint--only windshield, and wheels and exhaust tips where applicable/necessary).

I've found that some wax (I use One Grand Blitz, which contains no abrasives), applied with your fingers, and the use of a fingernail where necessary, works well.
