I find that I choose a hard color to work with when it comes to modding. I got a silver one and I am having a hard time deciding which route to take.

I already know I will lower with eibach and that I am going to add fog lights.

As far as the wheels go, I feel like I have three options.

Chrome: match the emblems and give a nice clean look.
Hyperblack: simply because I like the motegi sp10's
    or
    Black...

If I got black I feel like I would add the 3m vinyl to the roof and taillights. But at the same time, this would look a little much for me. I dont want it to look to far off of stock, I just want it to look good.

not many people here have modded silver geniii's so its been kind of hard to find inspiration.

Do you guys have any ideas?

Would some silver squadron owners chime in on what they are planning?

Silver is a great color to mod. It's a non-color so it'll match with anything. Black, gunmetal, or chrome - ALL will match and I've seen them all done on silver Toyotas - go with WIDE offsets, deep dish style maybe with a chrome lip. But despite your rim/color, your stance is everything. You're going with Eibach springs, so I know you already know that. :) A black vinyl wrap and tinted tails would finish off the look beautifully. I have seen a picture of a Gen III silver with dark taillights (but of course I can't find it when I need it ;) ). Smoking the headlights would look great too. Basically what you want to do is take your silver, and make it look a shade darker, grunge, with your mods.

I've had similar issues modding my magnetic gray Prius - which I think is miles harder than your silver. Even though it, too, is a non-color, it's tough to match. Especially when the metallic flakes change color under different lighting conditions.

Yeah....black or white cars would've been nice for us. But silver has the potential to look just as good. And trust me, people won't say "that car shouldn't be silver" or "that doesn't match." They'll just be in awe, because it's going to look great. Finally, just be happy you don't have red, blue, gray, or god forbid..tan!

You can do the replacement CF hood. Relatively cheap mod at less than $600.

Check out what sandog53 did with his Prius. IMO it looks awesome. Note the spoiler is painted to match the body (very nice). The smoked taillights are illegal however. Love the chrome trim on the wheels. The 17" OEMs look pretty sweet on Classic Silver, however.

I dislike chrome wheels on silver. Too gaudy. Stick with hyperblack or black.

I agree with 32K. If those are your options, go with black or hyper-black.
Or what about some matte white rims? Be different...

All my cars except my current Prius have been silver. Either you love chrome or hate it, I prefer my cars with zero chrome (including trim and badges). Painted silver or brushed aluminum trim is much more classy.

As for the wheels go with a machined face, painted silver, or a black wheel. I think you were looking at the MOMO Ten-S which I think would look superb on a silver car. A mesh wheel in black or black/machined would look pretty killer.

This picture sold me on the wheels I got (Konig Zero-In). Looks pretty awesome on silver. I think any black/machined or all black multi spoke wheel would look just as good.

    Thanks guys! Some good ideas...

Yeah, I dont know if you guys have this on your cars, but I have 2 dark silver/gunmetal stripes going down the side of the car. http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...-anyone-here-have-pinstripe-their-2010-a.html

So I think I might try and match that pinstripe with the wheels...itll be a really dark silver. Im not sure if hyperblack will cut it, but gunmetal will get closer.

these wheels seem to fit the budget well and I think they would look good...

what do you guys think? is the size/offset ok?

I also like the motegi sp10, the momo ten-s (as octi said!), and the konig deception.

I like the multispokes so if you guys have any ideas as to a hyperblack or gunmetal wheel just let me know...

also, does the width of the tire matter that much? will a 18x7.5 get better mpg's than a 18x8?

On the flip side, a polished wheel on a silver car looks excellent and classy if you're looking to go that route, think mercedes or lexus. Be forewarned however, if you are to pursue an aggressive fitment with "wide offset", you will NEED an aggressive drop, no questions asked.

Also to, a silver wheel with nicely placed accents will look very god on a silver car. My wheels are silver with a red centercap which gives it just enough color to make it interesting.

For reference sake, my wheels are 18x8.5 +30

I unfortunately got stuck with a grossly undersized tire which caused my car to not look a low a others.with a proper sized tire, the gap will diminish and give it a far more aggressive look

ok, i think I might have found the one!

ocblackpriusii, thanks to you I started looking at machined faced and lo and behold: Enkei Performance T-Fork Machined w/Anthracite Accent

these are on closeout, the 18's are $130 which I think is just fantastic.

If I get these, do you guys have any idea how much I will be losing in mpg's? Im guessing 4-5mpg...but I dont know...

I will wait to buy tires till more lrr are available. I just dont know how much longer these will be on the market at this prices...

I especially like that the are anthracite grey and not black...

That's another wheel I looked at and I think it will look very nice on a silver Prius. MPG loss will depend a lot on your tire choice but most people are reporting around 4 MPG loss.

I went with 17"x7" wheels (17lbs ea) and Conti DWS (540 Tread Rating, 20 lb ea) and have yet to fill up so it is too early to report officially on my initial MPG loss. According to the computer I have lost about 3.5MPG on my round trip commute. I'll be able to verify this as soon as I get a couple of fill ups with the new set up.

Even with a 4MPG loss, that equates to approx 1/2 gallon of extra gas per week for me. Well worth it for the improved look.
