Well Ive owned my 2005 prius for 6 months now and have set what i think are realistic goals for my self first goal was 55mpg and then 600 mile tank then 60 mpg and most recently 700 mile tank which I achieved today at 700.1 :) before I refilled albeit I needed 11.553 gallons to refill!! I cut the fuel level close I know but was determined!! :)

Hahaha NICE! 11.55 gallons cutting it awful close. I've never filled past 9 gallons and that's on a blinking pip.

Ha cool. Do you know how many miles did you drive with one pip, and how many miles with the flashing pip?

I tend to fill up a little under 500 miles just since I'm already down to one pip there. I've never had it flashing, but with the bladder, not sure if I'd want to!

Actually I do I went just over 60 miles on last solid pip and 44.1 miles on blinking pip. probably could have gone a little further on solid pip but wife took car with friends other day she doesn't have a solid grasp of driving car yet.

On most cars, a blinking pip indicates 1 gallon left. So you can probably get 50 more miles, hence 50 miles per gallon. :D

Well, there are 8 pips and allegedly up to 12 gallons, but that thing ain't linear, at least in mine. Also, with my constricted bladder sometimes I feel like gas prematurely.

That didn't sound right, did it? :p

What MPG did the MFD report ?
When my car was new I tried to eke miles out of one tank; nowadays I still shoot for high MPG but avoid the blinking pip.

This is a great time of year for fuel economy games. Not too hot, not too cold ...
I drove my son into town this evening and managed 73.4 mpg for the ~ 30 mile round trip on the scan gauge. I think only 3 or 4 red lights were obnoxious.
