I want to reset (zero out) my GPS

    I'll soon be trading my 2005 Prius for a new one. Can anyone tell me a way to erase all the user data in my GPS. I'd rather not have to do it one entry at a time.
    After much searching I finally found a way to erase the garage door opener settings (the manual said it couldn't be done).
    With security issues nowadays I wish there were something akin to a computer reformat so that my personal data is erased before I surrender my car.

    No nav in my Prius, but in the Lexus (same Denso unit) you do:

    Turn the Navigation system "On" and press the "Setup" button located on the right side of the unit.
    Select "General" from the top right side on the touchscreen menu
    Press the "Down" button to select "Delete Personal Data."
    Select "Delete Personal Data" when prompted, touch "Yes" to confirm. All personal data is erased and the settings are set to factory default on the Toyota navigation system.




    As an aside, you are being paranoid. Dealers usually reset this themselves. Also unless you are someone famous, it's not a big deal. Same with encrypted wifi. There's no reason why Timmy's 80yr old grandma needs a 256bit WPA2-PSK encryption algorithm to look at photos of Sammy Davis Jr.

    I don't think He's being paranoid. I bought an 08 Pack 5 in February, and not only are there a few numbers in the Bluetooth phone book, there are is also a bunch of info in the Nav.

    True most buyers would just reset it like they would with the radio presets, I would still personally feel better knowing that all that info is not out there for someone else. and there is always the chance for that random mistake call to "Mom" when setting up the bluetooth.

    Sure as long as you are not Taylor Swift or whats his name from the Twilight movies you shouldn't have much to worry about, but, when my 09 Pack 4 was totaled I Blanked out the #s in the phone book, and reset the homelink.
