Not really, because that rear vent sucks in air, blows it over the battery, and dispels it through the rear wheel well.

Okay, today i drove to work aggressively as i was late, it involved about a 2mile drive with a cold engine, and speeds of up to 50mph (roughly). I didnt floor the car, although i was in the fast lane right on the speed limit and accelerated briskly to the limit from the lights. It was a cold day. The smell didn't present itself at all, im thinking i might take the car to Toyota for a check-up?

I'm still new to the Prius... but I seem to see people unknowingly drive with their emergency brakes in their non-hybrids (by the the sheer continuous 'brake' lights on)... I know it's a longshot, but just a thought. Good luck!

Check the tension/condition of the belt that drives the water pump. :)

Rear brake lights do not come on with the parking brake set.

    I believe edthefox5 is correct.

That said, I have also seen people drive around in their non-hybrids riding their brakes. The most eggregious cases are where they start moving from a stoplight and their brake lights are on and stay on for almost the entire until they reach the next stoplight, including during the times in which they're accelerating.:rolleyes:
