For the do-it yourselfers on this forum, this oil is on sale at O'Reilly Auto Parts stores for 3.49 per quart. Its fully synthetic and is API Service SN, which is a grade higher than required by Toyota.

Rats. I just did my 10k change this weekend with a 5qt jug from wallyworld @ $24. But with the unused portion from it and the first change @ 1k miles, I'll only need a quart or two for the next 20k service so I'll pick some up.

    Thanks for the tip.

Mobil 1 OW-20 comes in a silver bottle with green cap and this comes in a black bottle with silver cap. Also the Mobil 1 0W-20 can be used in vehicles that call for 5W-20 according to the Mobil claims. However the oil that is on sale exceeds the requirements of Toyota oil. The Toyota synthetic is rated SM and the Mobil oil is rated SN. The higher the second letter the more it protects.

According to the chart, Mobil Super Synethic < Mobil 1

Mobil 1 includes the full synthetic AFE which is the Silver Bottle Green Cap version.

So don't worry if you bought the green cap for for more $.

Any of the three ought to be good enough.
If my boss's G3 can survive a month with 20W50 dino earl in the crankcase...any of the aforementioned designer blends ought to be OK.
(I'd just get the cheapest of the three.... :))

Are there any other synthetic oil options in 0-20W besides Mobil 1, Mobil Super Synthetic, and Toyota?

I recall reading that a while ago the Toyota Oil was made by Nippon/ENEOS, and thus it was a way of buying a extremely high quality product at an OEM price. Those bottles are red.

But then Toyota changed suppliers. They are now black bottles and it is made by Mobil according to people who've analyzed both.

The scarcity of the red bottles is driving up the price. One obvious difference is the red bottle has more Molybdenum.

Mobil 1 still has high marks and compares favorably. Note that these aren't my conclusions, but I believe it to be the case.

I would stick to Mobil 1 over Valvoline, Castrol, etc.
